Why am I dreaming? The motor and gears are only going to be supported for TWO years. Is that acceptable to you? It's not 3, but I think that's also too short. You have a bike that costs between USD6525 and 16525.
If it's out of service in 2 years, it becomes a (bad and overpriced) Stumpjumper...
I've asked Mahle this question and they said they are only supplying parts for the SL for TWO YEARS. The motor is designed for a 10,000km service life.
That seems very short! It's a big problem. What do you do in year 3 when you have have 11,000 km on your bike? Mahle is not going to provide...
Just ordered the new SL! And the only way to justify the cost was to plan to put 10,000km on it over 10 years. I ride ~4000km per year over 4 bikes.
Good to know that many of you put this kind of miles on the Levos much faster and they seem to hold up. I know the SL is a new motor and...
600km. I have 4 bikes that I all ride, so I don’t put a ton of miles on each one. For what it’s worth. There’s a lot more maintained and care required with an e-bike over a non e-bike. For example, who actually remembers to cycle their batteries every 3 months and not leave them fully charged in...
Be careful with replacing the rear shock - the shocks are specifically tuned to the Levo. You’ll get bobbing with a standard tune shock:

Thanks, that’s what I was looking for. Minor edit: 3.2X = 220%, 2X = 100%.
I find on the same trails with my Epic, I burn about 3X more calories than with the 2018 1.3 Turbo Levo - which makes sense (although I only run in Turbo to get to and from the trials).
I’m warming up to the SL... and...
Because a motor bike is way more complex and expensive to produce... although it does sell in larger volumes (but you don’t care about that as a consumer).
How reliable have the Mahle motors been in the Creo? Trading off a Swiss-made Brose for a Spanish (I think) made Mahle is not a great sign... but that may not mean that much.
Hope so! And I see there are 3rd party firms that will repair or service.
Is it a Brose motor in the new SL?
I am slowly warming up to the (massive) price difference!
Does anyone know?
Now that the Levo can cost more than a motorcycle, and given how quickly bikes depreciate, it makes sense to know if Specialized will support a 10 year old Levo SL that needs a new motor or circuit board. Thoughts?
You make some good points... this industry is still young - we’ll see where it settles out in terms of value for the money.
I have 3 Specialized bikes, so I love the products. I just wished they had kept increases to inflation.
Back on topic -- no one has properly compared noise levels against the belt driven models of 2018 and 2019? Obviously the new bike is louder - gears most of the time are louder than belts.
I'm not sure what you don't understand. A 35% increase in 2 years is not "due to inflation"!! Inflation runs about 2%.
I'm not talking about the Founders' Edition.
In Canada/US the Turbo Levo S-Works retailed for USD10,000 in 2018:

In any currency, the 2020 bike is more than 30% more expensive than the 2018 bike. That’s crazy. I love Specialized - I own 3 SWorks bikes, but the price of the new SL is just crazy. I’m out.
