Got my Heckler SL - First Ride and First Post

I get shrink-wrap tubing at the local hardware store and wrap the hoses & cables from the levers to frame, with a heat-gun. Have to be careful to not over-heat, or bind up cables, but you end up with only 2-3 exposed housings.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe TQ Motor Issue Poll

1yr+ review: Overheated the motor a few times resulting in momentary reduction of power- no big deal Remote died at 12 months, replaced under warranty Replaced cranks, stock e13s were coming loose frequently Frame & pivots still quiet Replaced most stock parts due to personal preference One...

SRAM finally get into the motor game.

Interesting that the Propain appears to have routing for cable-actuated rear derailleurs....

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I've been chasing a rattle/knocking sound for a while and I thought it was that. Local hardware store had some upholstery foam scrap blocks that were free- easy to remove the display and stuff a few of those into the void behind the head tube. That did quiet my bike down some, but I still have...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I figured, but seems weird - I have the opposite problem, pretty much maxx'd out on volume spacers, small air can, still bottom out hard.

That can be true, but I would suggest trying a different approach to tuning- with the vivid too. You should not have any problems getting full travel out of this bike since it's not very progressive at all. I would try this: With climb switches open and no compression (full CCW) set sag to 30%...

I've been on those Helix e*spec cranks for a while. Q-factor seems to be the same as the stock alloy cranks. They have not come loose. I went 160mm, maybe fewer pedal strikes but less torque while climbing too.

I'm stoked to see a carbon Propain eBike, at least. Had a Tyee and it was a great ride. Not stoked on some other aspects. MFG's need to figure out how to not have the motor hanging low & in front of the chainring. That is such a liability in technical terrain. And just my personal opinion but...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Just gonna throw it out there: I think the stock tunes are too light on compression damping. (Based on a super deluxe select+ on a 9.8). Going to a coil shock, or air shock with a larger air, is going to make this worse. You'll want to consider all the ways you can prevent the shock from...

We’ve got (2) velocirax tilt& pivots and are super happy with them. Freed up a lot of space and the bikes don’t bang into each other

Here's a clearance check with a 205x62.5mm Bomber CR. Reservoir hits the downtube with the BO bumper compressed as shown. A 205x60 should not work either. Craig at Avalance will chop 1cm off the reservoir, replace the damping entirely, and add a large conical bottom-out bumper with cup...

Yep, me too. The Ohlins TTx1 checks all the boxes. As do the stock shocks on the upper models, I suppose. My Ohlins needs service and I'd like a spare, but I may just come full-circle.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

So, been talking to Craig at Avalanche about custom tuning for this bike, He knows quite a lot. Most of the info is here. Just the initial stuff: The EXe has a 16.5% progression ratio. This is about the minimum for coil-compatibility, he says. Requires some sort of bottom-out control. Totally...

Sounds to me like your fork is undersprung (you mentioned running below rec'd pressure). When you use F brake or shift your weight forward, fork compresses/rear end unloads, head angle steepens, and you get nervous handing. 20psi for the F tire should be OK long as your not getting flats. I...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I'm going to do some experiments- just picked up a used Marzocchi bomber CR 205x62.5mm. I've been very happy with the Ohlins TTx1, but it can't hurt to have a back-up and check my assumptions. Avalanche has some pretty sweet custom tuning options which I may explore.

I'd love to hear some more about that E-storia- What stroke? Is the rebound adjuster accessible? Is it their standard tune?
