Same here, also electrical tape over the seams between display & top tube (invisible on a black bike) PNW Wet riding and weekly hose-offs all last winter, no issues....

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Yeah, we have very different use cases. Most rides we do hit 2500' within in the first 10 miles. My fave winter loop is 2k' in 6 miles. Plus wetter conditions etc. Finding I need to service rear suspension every 6 months. My Fuel was down for 3 months in the fall due to blown shocks & wheels...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

@Dave_B thats not too bad but I would guess you have some excess fluid in the air can that’s preventing that last bit of travel. If you’re inclined I would look into removing the travel spacer to see if you can get 62.5 or 65mm stroke. You’ll want to make sure the reservoir doesn’t hit the...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

@Dave_B have you tried letting all the air out of the shock and compressing the suspension? That might tell you if there’s something amiss with the shock itself. I suspect there is if you’re running 18mm of sag (30%)

Mine's been problem free recently, but I did start cleaning and applying lock-tite to both the lock-ring and crank arm bolts.

I'm surprised the Levo SL seems to have more range/support, I wonder if that could be down to the rider weight differences. Some reviews have said it was under-powered compared to the trek. I rode a fair bit last year with a friend who has a Relay, typically big days. He definitely gets more...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

That's a good question. I recall my Ohlins came with the Igus bushings like Fox uses, I had to swap those for a bronze DU bushing like RS uses for the shock hardware to fit correctly. I think my Ohlins was a new take-off so I'm not sure if they typically deliver with those Igus bushings.

I rode most of last year on a 205x62.5mm TTx1. Pros: Reservoir clears downtube regardless of stroke much lighter than coil and pretty dang close in feel Nice supple feel off the top- much better than the stock RS super deluxe select + Easy to tune spring curve with volume spacers and...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

My average speed on yesterday's ride was 3.1mph :ROFLMAO: 15f and some snow here, I attempted a dbl-blk DH trail but it was so icy I fell walking. Walked half the DH. Was having a hard time finding the trail under snow. Still got my HR up to 177, 155 average. 2000' in 6.33 miles. Today will go...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

That’s a great tip. Of course what happened was the up/walk button failed, so I did a restart which stuck me in 0 mode with no way to change modes. It was all DH to the end, but your tip would have gotten me another day of riding.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

It was a Nobl TR37 carbon rear rim, which came off my previous bike so had two seasons of use. My TQ remote had failed, when I took the bike into my local trek shop they found the crack. Looked like just a scratch so I wasn't fussed about it. Contacted Nobl and they advised I replace it...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Just for the sake of documenting my experience :censored: I finished out the season with a dead remote, cracked rim and a blown rear shock. The shock saga was interesting- basically I could feel the damping in the Ohlins TTx1 fading, so I bought a $150 used Marzocchi Bomber CR which i planned to...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

@Dave_B That's weird. Many have had the opposite problem, the suspension is pretty linear. Have you measured with calipers to see how much stroke is actually being used? You have the compression lever open when setting sag? Past that I would try more sag, but you may have a dud shock. When I had...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

@Dave_B There's so many variables that can lead to different outcomes for others. As an example, my GF rides a n Alu Turbo Levo and she weighs maybe 63kg. On an average 3000', 17 mile black diamond ride, she'd use maybe 20% battery, but guess who lifts her bike into the truck? ;) A FF eBike...

Depends on the brand&model, there’s a decent chance the reservoir will hit the Downtube at full travel. Easy enough to test fit with the spring removed, you can use a strap to compress the rear shock. Make sure the clearance between the resi & downtube exceeds the thickness of your bottom out bumper

In have the Jank Components holder, which is identical other than being 3d printed by Pinkbike Acedemy & local celebrity Eric Olson. On my size L, with a 70cc pump, everything clears though sometimes the pump rubs on my waterbottle. Not sure if a 100cc pump would have any additional issues.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Resi/downtube clearance will depend on the specific shock. The stock Marzocchi bomber coil won’t fit, but can be modified. Shocks with transverse reservoirs like Ohlins, DVO or EXT Storia are the safest best. The frame is pretty linear, if you go coil, look for something with bottom out...
