Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Grip2 Damper is worth it IMO. Better resale value, more tunable and consistent (Since it has clicks). If option #2 is in good shape I’d go that route.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I bought a similar specialized magnet and a park BBT-9 spanner would not clear it, when using a Wolftooth external spline lockring. Since the magnet should align with the sensor (maybe that's a standard dimension) I'm guessing it's the lockring which creates issues.

Something to keep in mind about the CL magnets- the style that have a ring which fits concentric, underneath the CL lockring will require a wrench that can clear the magnet itself. A standard flat BB spanner (which wants to sit flush with the rotor) will not work- you’ll need a socket-style...

These cheap cateye cyclometer magnets work great with shimano CL rotors- or any rotor with holes. I keep a spare in my pack.

Fuel EXe New Fuel EX-e TQ error

This topic deserves a thread of its own! My last bike (shimano motor) threw similar error codes which required a restart. Often got hecKled by analog riders I had just passed. I would accuse them of using an electronics jammer or emitting microwaves. Never had this error code on my trek...

Fuel EXe Fuel Exe sizing dillema

I've had 3 chromag wideangles in a row- a 2016 M (400mm reach), a 2019 M (440mm) and a 2021 M/L (464mm). It's been awesome to own 3 bikes which have been pretty much identical other than the frame sizing. the M/L (with a 35mm stem) has been my favorite. Chromags newer models are pushing a 490mm...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

YES! Thank you for saying this. I think it needs to be a big fat sticky. The way I see it.... eBikes allow us to double/triple ride lengths and ride 2-3x as often. So we go through disposable parts and need maintenance 2-3x as often. Bikes loosen up and break in, like any high-performance...

Fuel EXe Fuel Exe sizing dillema

Was curious so I had to look- Jesse Melamud, 170cm, rides a M with 455mm reach. Richies an outlier and I think he runs a 50mm stem. I think it’s really just down to personal preference. Was also really surprised that mullet takes 18mm off the reach.

Fuel EXe Fuel Exe sizing dillema

I think I saw your post on FB and replied there, but more thoughts. These sizing discussions often focus on FIT but, handling is a different topic. Especially on a bike this versatile it's a big difference. It's all about the wheelbase, and a longer wheelbase isn't ideal for every trail & rider...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe - Trying to understand range and altitude possibilities

@Cell4soul I’ve done many riding trips there, but haven’t been in at least a decade. Maybe this fall or next spring!

Rad! Did you get into hangover/hiline area? We’ve been alternating between epic early season conditions and snow here on the local trails.

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Such a wormhole. I had an Evil Following years ago. Set it to 28% sag and it wasn't feeling good. I ran into Kevin (old Evil CEO dude) on a ride and he talked me through it. The high leverage rate of that bike, combined with your stance on the bike when setting sag (seated vs standing, weight...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

The math is super easy & more reliable than online calculators. First you need the generalized leverage ratio, which is travel divided by shock stroke. 140mm/60mm=2.33 Then multiply your body weight (in lbs) by leverage ratio for target spring rate (in lbs) 187x2.33=435lbs I'd get a 450lb spring...

I think as you recover and can use less assist, it will be a non-issue. You could mostly tune it out by using higher assist levels and turning down the pedal response. What you're feeling- it's like popping the clutch on a 50nm eBike! In order to get max range, I have my settings tuned down so...

I can confirm the E13 32t works fine with both SRAM or Shimano 12spd chains (non flat-top). Good luck and keep us posted!

    2023 Zeb Ultimate vs. 2022

Best shock depends on the bikes kinematics. With only ~140mm of fairly linear travel on the Fuel I like the air spring tunability & progressivity of an air shock. Ohlins Ttx1 is pretty close to perfect for me. My propain tyee felt too firm with a float x2, even with no volume spacers. That...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Yeah, I can't say I watched the whole thing, I think we agree. The thing is, the frame/drop-out could be out of alignment, but mounting the derailleur off the axle means it will be aligned with the cassette. So no benefit to having a hanger now, far as alignment goes. Much like my posts here...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I agree this conversation is more interesting than work :p And we have SRAM to thank for the Reverb seatpost. So we know they are capable of designing & selling disposable garbage. The youtube engineer dude lost me when he started talking about derailer hangers being necessary to keep the...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

That was my first thought- and that the more you screw in the B-tension, maybe it exaggerates any alignment issues. But then I wondered, shouldn't the B-tension screw just adjust to get the derailleur in the same location on every bike (relative to the cassette) regardless of the hanger? I don't...
