Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Some interesting follow-ups....Since my GX AXS appeared straight enough(although missing a large chunk of plastic) I did some experimenting to see if it could be salvaged. Cages are not interchangeable between cable-actuated and AXS GX derailleurs. I had a spare/donor cable-actuated GX, so I...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I'm assuming the bearing is captured in such a way that it's not subject to that 35nm preload. Might be the bushing frame insert (e) holds the width of the bearing? Or maybe, only the bearings inner race is pre-loaded?

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

NSMB Article featuring Fuel EXe Interesting that it worked well with the stock TQ/E13 chainring. Not sad about my brand new cable-actuated GX drivetrain. I’d like to see the direct-mount/float top chain & cassette technology trickle down to GX, and cable actuated too. I guess I’m a little sore...

    2023 Zeb Ultimate vs. 2022

FYI- I don't believe the 2023 air spring & damper will be backwards compatible, because they have the buttercups which have a different footnut assembly. I know for a fact that you can't put an older air spring assembly in 2023 forks. Will also add, I went from a 2023 lyrik select+ (hard...

    2023 Zeb Ultimate vs. 2022

I've got a 2023 Zeb Ultimate and I am very very impressed with it. I've got a fox factory 38 on my meat bike for comparison, and have had several lyriks too. The main noticeable advantages of the 2023 Rockshox stuff; Amazing mid-stroke support. The buttercups make it feel almost underspring on...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Stoked- I got 3307’ up&down today and still had 30% left at the end. I used the settings below and did the first 1500’ in tuned-down Eco, then the rest of the ride in trail mode. Threw it in boost for the last traverse, why not. I think warmer temps and drier trails are improving range.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

My Fuel has only thrown one error code, mid ride, and I think it may have been the same one. I removed the rear wheel and wiped off the sensor & magnet, restarted, problem solved. I think I just had a bunch of mud/loam/water interrupting the connection between the wheel magnet & sensor. My last...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

I got the TTX1 (62.5mm stroke) and I LOVE it. No bottom out issues. As I understand It, you could stuff the TTX2 with spacers and get the same spring curve as the TTX1. On shorter travel bikes like this, I think it’s good to have a progressive, rampy set-up. Too linear and you won’t have any...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Just hack riding & ham-fisted wrenching :) The best drive train I’ve ever had is on my chromag. 11-spd GX shifter & R Der, with an XT 11-42 HG freehub and Sram chain. I bought it all used and it’s got 4 seasons of winter riding since. The cassette is missing teeth and the chain is definitely...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

I‘ve had a run of sub-optimal shimano experiences. Although this wasn’t a great Sram experience either. I hear there’s an AXS direct-mount coming. I just went back to GX cable for now.

Worth a look, plus support Eric Olson! LBS (Fanatik) confirms I killed my 4-month old GX AXS derailleur. So currently pondering replacing vs going to cable-actuated GX.

I think it will depend on the weights of both riders, and how much vert you’ll expect to get. I’ve done a few rides with my GF, who’s like 140lbs on a turbo levo, towing my 18yo daughter (130lbs?) up 1,500’ service road climbs. My daughter has pedaled the same climbs but does LOVE getting towed...

Love it, sister cities with sister weather! @Cell4soul My GF just returned from a work trip to Mesa. I was invited and would have loved to have joined but I’ve been buried with other commitments. Bellingham Wa is pretty rad (and riding is mostly great year round). I’m always happy to play...

I stand corrected, I thought the lower-spec models came with a separate spider/chainring that might allow you to mount a bash ring. But I'm not seeing that to be the case.

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Remind me, you have a 9.8? Wondering if a bash ring is an option. Really not missing my previous ebike with the shimano motor that hung low & in front of the chainring. I feel like most full-power eBikes have that problem and become a liability on rock rolls with knuckle entrances. Edit: Just...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Nice, are those the Groundskeeper/Brooklyn Bell decals? I'm a buttercup fan personally. I went from the stock Lyrik select+ 150 to a Zeb ultimate 160 with the buttercups, so hard to say how much of the difference was the chassis & extra travel. But same damper. Big improvement in small bump...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Yeah, so 800w of solar panels on the roof, a 2000 Watt Pure Sine Inverter Charger, & (2) 100Ah 12V LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Batteries. It’s all ~7yrs old, probably better stuff out now, but it works! As for the Fuel vs Rail, the Fuel is great for 90% of my riding, and I love the lighter weight. I...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Yeah, it has an inverter. It's a pretty cool camper, I bought it used and later found mackelmore was the previous owner! Using the inverter & AC really sucks battery, so charging the eBikes is basically the only time I go that route. Fridge is DC. I can run an extension cord outside and charge...
