That sucks. I think the issue is that if we had an aluminum guard, it would just transfer the impact through those 2 small bolts and crack those, and/or the frame. What is really needed is a taco/bashguard system than extends forward from the cranks to protect the motor..... so ISCG tabs at min...
One of my riding buddies did, which was much appreciated!
I’ve since upped my first aid game. This particular day was a short ride, I wasn’t carrying much of anything.
I’m in the same club. Got pitched hitting a steep rock roll on my chromag; 35 stitches in my leg, broken nose and a skiers thumb injury that required surgery. I’m hoping to start riding again this week, it’s been 7 weeks. Sucky!
Raffe’s got it right. My stock guard cracked in like 2 rides.
You’ll want to replace It. The Rockguardz carbon one goes over it, it’s an add-on not a replacement. Seems sturdy though!
Depends on where you are in the state. I live in Bellingham and have found no lack of great riding where eBikes are either allowed or, the trails are ”user built” (I.e. secret trails where access isn’t closely monitored).
You are correct that on TF, the default is no eBikes. It’s not always...
I’ve gotten thanked so many times for having bells on my bikes. I typically ride through a park on the way to local trails where passing etiquette gets put to the test. I have Knogs on all my bikes, love how low profile they are, do wish they were a little more durable.
Yep, get the rockguardz carbon shield thing. Cheap enough. It doesn’t replace the plastic piece you cracked, it just adds a layer of protection.
There is a rock ledge on a climb I ride frequently that destroys the stock piece every time. Seems OK with the rock guardz shield.
Only complaint-...
After a run of mechanicals, I now make sure to carry multiple quick links. They‘re small and light. Also I carry wolf tooth 8-bit pack pliers, so I can remove quick links. They also have a 8mm wrench you can get decent torque on (I.e. if a pedal starts to back out). Other than that, your list...
Very interesting, thanks for the info! May I ask what model Garmin it is? I’m seeing lots of deals on Edge 520s & 530s.
Also good news on my bike, I got a few laps in today and had no error codes. I’m thinking last ride was an outlier and probably the result of overzealous hosing.
Great info here, thanks everyone for posting. Back in Oct I picked up a sight VLT 27.5 with a pro build (literally)- XTR drivetrain, Saint Brakes, Fox factory 36 and Float x2.
Pretty quick I made some changes. Using some VHB tape and a stainless steel electrical switch cover, I was able to get...
About ready to replace the chainring on my Norco Sight VLT with shimano E8000 motor/cranks and 11spd shimano drivetrain. Can anyone confirm that the stock chairing is 104bcd? Are there any direct mount options or boost/offset specs to consider? So far I’m thinking the wolf tooth stainless 104bcd...
Chuck, thanks for this. Have you experienced or heard of any weird behavior at end of stroke? My local suspension pros had concerns, I think either bushing overlap or something to do with the negative air spring- in any case, they advised against bumping my emtb fox 36 to 180mm.
They also said...
