Thanks for the battery info!
Here's something that got me very stoked on eBikes. I have this camper with solar on the roof. Last summer we discovered the camper was capable of recharging 2 eBikes (my girlfriend has a Levo) which consumes about 2/3 it's battery. We'd go ride and if the camper...
Can you elaborate on this? The firmware is only in the motor & display, not the batteries correct?
Im curious because my very helpful local trek store just updated my firmware, battery is due in 3 weeks.
Expect to have fun experimenting! The 3rd screen option, which shows rider output (Watts) vs motor output is really helpful. I have experimented with more assist/lower max wattage and vice-versa, and not really noticed a difference assuming the settings are balanced against each other (I use...
For lower shock hardware, rather than wait on Trek, seems like you could replace most everything with aftermarket.
These guys are good.
TBH I fully tore my bike apart & rebuilt it to get it quiet, and I fully expect I'll have to do it again in a few months. With the added use eBikes get they...
It certainly seems that way, much better Wh/$ value and availability sooner. I was 100% in, but I have read a few horror stories about injuries where people fell on their backs with batteries in their packs. That's why I was experimenting with strapping the battery to my downtube, even though it...
Hmmm, I probably don't have any useful advice since I started with a 9.8 and then swapped the Super Deluxe Select+ to an Ohlins. I do think the suspension works great with a progressive set-up (i.e. air shock w/ add'l volume spacers & <28% sag) so you can set the shock up to be soft initially...
Probably not what you want to hear, but I didn't notice any break-in. It's been what it is since day one, and for 140mm+/- I think it's great. Though I'm used to, and prefer a bit more travel.
What shock are you running and what's your set-up & weight? What are you used to?
Doesn’t look like it would buy me enough clearance, at least with this shock.
I do see DBinline coils are on sale, and there’s the progressive VALT spring option. I’m pretty sure that would clear and I could figure out a Fidlock mount that would work for either the battery or a water bottle...
A little snowy Sunday experiment. Looks like, at least on a size L frame with an inline shock, you could hypothetically strap a second battery to the top of the Downtube. Plenty of clearance for the shock itself but the reservoir collides with the battery nearing full travel. It’s so close...
It's true! I agree all the info is helpful, and nothing wrong with personal preference, especially on such a versatile bike.
I'm 175cm and spent last season on a M/L chromag widangle (464mm reach/35mm stem) and a M Propain Tyee CF 29" (451mm reach/40mm stem). Based on those bikes, I figured...
Discussed it to death elsewhere! Thoughts…..
Going mullet/160mm fork can take as much as 18mm off the reach! Good case for sizing up.
You can get the same “fit” with different size frames, but the handling changes obviously. Longer wheelbase has advantages on steep&fast & compromises...
I’ve been using heat shrink tubing to wrap it to the front brake line. A little more fuss but it looks really clean and you don’t need a bar with holes.
Those are great wheels, I have a set that are like 5yrs old on my Chromag, they are going strong. I taco’d the front casing a jump, and getting the rim replaced was only like $120 w/labor. Very happy with them.
Another AXS question- has anyone had issues with the B-tension screw backing out, or self-adjusting? I’ve had two rides (both in really muddy conditions) where the drivetrain starts grinding in larger cogs, when I check it’s as if the B-tension screw has released, or suddenly backed out a few...
Always interesting to hear how eBike access is in various areas. It's pretty much a non-issue here in Wa.
I think most trail users wouldn't be able to discern between the Fuel EXe and a regular mountain bike- not that I'm advocating poaching Yosemite
I was noticing today it's much...
On 12spd, the cassette and chain do need to be same brand. I don't know exactly why, but I have done all sorts of mixing/matching and that's the deal. I can also verify that shimano 12spd shifter/derailleur work with SRAM 12spd cassette/chain. Not as good as full Sram but certainly good enough.
