Levo Gen 2 Levo Motor - Acceptable Bottom Bracket Play

Sorry, I am not 100% certain of what you are asking but here goes. Most manufacturers, including Specialized, only offer a 2 year warranty on their motors. Specialized extended this to 4 years on the Brose 2019 and 2020 motors for their own reasons. Once a motor is out of warranty the...

WARNING! To Bosch powered ebike owners (pre 2020)

Yeah, we used to get that problem! I bought Snap-On C-Clip pliers in the end but I wouldn't recommend this for a once in a while thing as they are not cheap! Before this I had a pair of US PRO Tools C-clip pliers 2239 but I had to grind the tips down to fit!

Levo Gen 2 Levo Motor - Acceptable Bottom Bracket Play

Wow! What an answer! Play, roughness or unhealthy noises are not acceptable, and will normally be replaced under warranty without question. I would contact Specialized and ask them to speak with the dealer to fit a new motor.

You're always welcome to call Stuart, I don't mind giving time to anyone if I have it :) We have fitted a better crankshaft seal and packed water resistant grease between the motor cover and the outer facing bearings, this helps a little. I think plastering a good tacky waterproof grease...

Motor mileage is un-quantifiable due to the amount of variables e.g. Riding terrain, weather conditions, washing habits, how you transport your bike etc. There are still E8000 motors out there running like yours, so we don't yet know what their ultimate mileage in the optimum conditions would...

Don't let this put you off Stuart, you will be fine if you just keep an ear out for anything untoward and get it looked at sooner rather than later. Many people do thousands of happy trouble free miles. Don't forget we also see these motors in near perfect condition after 60,000 + miles...

    Unsolicited Specialized motor turn ons

If it's "as dry as a dead dingo's donger" then I would change the power lead from the battery to the motor. This has two cutback wires from the CAN bus line, if these are very close you maybe getting a spurious signal across them. This usually happens when water has got in the cable at some time...

    Unsolicited Specialized motor turn ons

Is the motor switched on when it decides to start working? Has the bike just been washed or in wet conditions before this happens? (including on a car rack on wet roads)

Levo Gen 2 Are Brose & Specialized Fixing Their Motor Problem ?

Sorry guys, I have to step in before another rumor about Brose motors gets started. These motors are primarily designed for commuter bikes, low cadence, daily grind. So best place to set most power to be delivered is during low cadence. As stated in the posts above. But technically, this is what...

Don't forget to cover the motor if the roads are wet or you will be fitting Bosch number 10!

This is a good question actually. The Bosch Gen 4 has a cover that sits over both left and right crankshaft bearings. These are half way between a seal and a shield. The idea is that they are removed after un undisclosed period of time, cleaned and re-greased or replaced (they do wear out). If...

Preventative DIY is only really possible with the Bosch Gen 4. All other motors are more or less fit and forget. If your motor is still in warranty, don't touch it. Other than that, we tend to advocate people fixing their own things, we sell all the bits and offer help if needed. However, the...

WHEN should you stop pedalling to not DESTROY your motor ?

This may sound like an odd question, but it’s an important one as far as your motor is concerned. This article is written more for anyone who owns an ebike with an expired or expiring warranty. We are probably all guilty of riding a bike with a worn wheel bearing or loose bottom bracket for...

Should this guy have stopped pedalling?

That's an easy one, just change the little aluminium bracket, the nut is captivated in that and not the motor itself.
