Thank you for your offer, we may be able to do this after the summer.
You are right, it's always been my stance to not influence peoples thought processes when buying a bike. There many reasons for this, but other than buying with your heart and not your head, the main ones are below...
We have all this data! We probably have the worlds most reliable and comprehensive records. Our records detail the failure of every motor type that we repair, going back 5 years, so far.
We log the bike manufacturer and model of bike the motor is fitted to, motor manufacturer, motor model...
Although rare, these motors can slip from time to time, and this can be quite a "clunk" sometimes (bit like a chain jumping a tooth on a sprocket). Due to the fact that there are a few different electronic issues going on, power levels won't shift, bike wont assist over 10mph and no codes, my...
This usually happens if one of the motors mounting bolts are tightened to full torque before the others are nipped up. It can also happen if the other three mounting bolts loosen over time, while one remains tight.
This is a fixable problem, but unfortunately not as straight forward as it...
Just so you know, according to our records. Carrying an eBike on a car rack without covering the motor is the third biggest killer of eBike motors!!
No 1 Pressure washer / hosing.
No 2 Deep water fording.
No 3 Transporting a bike on a car rack in the wet.
The bike is not protected or shielded...
Brose are a company that do continuous small rolling changes without updating the model number. This is until there are enough little changes to warrant a whole new number. One thing this means for example, when they went from 2.1 to 2.2, there was not one big change. In fact there was no real...
There are no different bearings or seals in the 2.2 motor, but watching the way the crank is dragging, it sounds and looks like someone has fitted a dry O-ring between the crank arm and the motor case?
You should be fine! When you're pedalling with the motor off, you are only turning the crankshaft of the motor and the crankshaft bearings are good for 100,000 miles + if they're not getting wet and dusty.
Unfortunately, It's common but not normal. In your case the left hand crankshaft bearing is in desperate need of replacement. As this bearing sounds so bad, I would suspect a few of the other bearings too.
Well done for doing this simple test and spotting this issue though! You may have saved...
High cadence is only recommended for fitness benefit as shown in the video you posted. It makes little difference to motor longevity if you are pedaling fast or slow.
Due to the way that the power is delivered, the motor will run a little more efficiently at high cadence as most torque is...
Listening and watching @BikingBad video, although almost impossible to see, the noise presents itself when the chain stops turning rather than when the crank stops turning. This means that the click happens when the motor stops driving, not when the rider stops pedalling. This rules out crank...
