My Emtb life ( Ongoing Blog ): Current bike: Haibike Sduro Hardseven 2.5

Thanks for the shout out, much appreciated :) Just for reference, the mileage is logged on the motors PCB. Unfortunately, when the PCB is changed, the mileage can't be transferred. But glad you're happy 👍

That will be the same scenario as the Bosch Gen 3 and 4. One will be cheaper because of less seals and machining, so that will be put in the lower end emtb's and it would all start over again! But I totally agree, that each manufacturer should make a dedicated emtb motor. And any bike...

This is from a post I wrote a little while ago. It may help with some more understanding. As a vehicle mechanic and then a motorcycle mechanic with my own repair shop, and a keen off-road motorcycle rider. And now the owner of the worlds first and largest ebike motor repair business. I am...

Didn't see any new motors on the Bosch stand, but then again I was busy talking and may have missed something?

No this means that if we can't repair a motor for what ever reason, we can no longer offer a remanufactured, service exchange motor and program it to suit your bike. This means that if we can't fix your "Smart" motor, for what ever reason, you will have no option but to buy a new one. There is...

This is the problem when I leave the company for a few days to go to Eurobike show and everything stops! I will get someone to contact you tomorrow Rusty (y)

OK, so this is the Performance Line Gen 3 and is made very different to the Performance Line CX Gen 4. The Gen 3 was primarily designed as a road bike motor, and does not have the strength, power or sealing that you would find on the Gen 4. The low power of the Gen 3 meant great battery range...

The "non CX Performance Line" was discontinued in 2018, but was made very different from the Gen 4 CX. There are not so many "non CX" Performance Lines around these days so you will hear less about them, but they failed all the same. There is no difference in build quality. When "nonCX" turned...

This is true, and I would not expect anyone still within their warranty period to be unhappy. I am only relaying what I hear on a daily basis from people who are outside of their warranty period and looking at a very large bill for a new motor on an ageing bike, when other makes can be repaired...

Yes, we could get the software without much problem. My argument is that we should be able to do this properly, with the manufacturers (or importers) blessing. This is so we have access to the latest information, updates and guidance. We want to do this work properly. Ideally, What we need is...

Bosch never made a 3rd gen CX. The CX lineage went from Gen 2, straight to Gen 4. The Gen 3 only went up to Performance Line without the CX bit. But to answer your question... no seals are interchangeable between generations.

Alternative Grease for servicing the CX seal.

I like your thinking but not an ideal product for this application because there are rotating parts involved. Hylomar is a static sealant.

No, we don't fix any motor within it's warranty period for Brose, these are exchanged un the UK through us for a new motor so long as warranty terms are met. This can only be done through a Brose dealer and they would be dealing with our daughter company 'EMCB' (eBike Motor Centre Brose). We...

No. The only reason we can not repair Shimano, is because they will not accept us as a Shimano agent because we are not a bike shop!! Without this, we cannot re-set diagnostics or program the motor with the correct wheel circumference etc. We can repair the Shimano motors, no problem. But we're...

Another big up to EBike Motor Centre (Performance Line Bearings)

Until very recently, no manufacture would sell any internal motor parts. So everything had to be sourced by ourselves. This has changed since we became the Brose Warranty Service Centre for the UK and Southern Ireland. We then became the trusted after warranty service repair centre (worldwide)...

Don't worry, we haven't put our prices up for a couple of years now. We do try and support Shimano as much as possible with parts and bearings etc. And we used to repair lots of them (The fault code when a motor is opened is a total myth). Sadly, Shimano are absolutely adamant that their motor...

Levo Gen 3 Crankshaft moving sideways

A pedal strike is when you are pedalling and the crank arm hits a rock, tree root, rut, curb etc. You will know if you have a good pedal strike because you will find yourself kneeling on the floor clutching your parts!! o_O

Levo Gen 3 Crankshaft moving sideways

This can happen, but there is usually a reason. For instance a bad pedal strike, crash or removing the chainring spider without using the special tool. When this does happen, it is fixable. Although it can make a bit of a mess!

The "smart" system is integrated with the handlebar remote and controller, alarm (if fitted), ABS module and carries the bikes frame number, so the PCB of the motor is also linked to Bosch through their new diagnostics portal. This means you can't just swap a motor or PCB, unless the "new motor"...
