Yes, I clicked the image and the ring gear looked like 50% of the motors we have in the shop here, some are tight, some are loose and some are in between. The ring gear can't physically slip without exploding the planetary gear carrier, it also has a plastic alignment peg that sits deeper in to...
The ring gear is supposed to be like this, it's normal. Your noise sounds like it is coming from outside of the motor. This is the sort of sound a chainring makes when the spider bolts are not quite tight enough. The clicking noise is happening at a different speed or cadence to anything else...
Unfortunately, there is conflicting information for this out there, some manufacturers say it can and some say it can't. I have seen boat trailers where marine grease has been pumped into the hub bearings and the original lithium grease has run out as oil, causing bearing failure in 3 or 4...
Can't really write prices on here, post stay forever but the prices change. Please take a look at our site here: Repair & Overhaul Service (New) - eBike Motor Centre (Performance Line Bearings) Towing your mate, should not really cause the motor any significant issue, it's just like you, but...
Hi, Not sure your numbers are correct? The Tero 4.0 should come fitted with the Drive C Mag 50Nm motor (Specialized 2.0E). The Drive T Mag is 70Nm and would consume more of your battery. There will be little difference internally, but you can always get it upgraded by us or one of our partners...
Excessive motor run-on can be caused by a mechanical issues too. It can start to rear it's head when the crankshaft starts getting a little tight in the sprocket carrier (torque sensor). This is normally a relatively easy fix.
On slippery surfaces most ebike motors cannot react fast enough to...
Bosch Gen 4: Sudden loss of drive and the motor spinning up and shutting down is normally due to the failure of the sprag bearing within the large steel drive gear.
There is no special "thing" inside any of these motors, that will stop them working if you open them up. Most people "brick" their own motors by breaking the ribbon wires on the pcb and torque sensor. As long as you're very carful, you should be fine.
We see very few (4 so far) with a light grease on the crankshaft, but this maybe winding it's way through from the drive gear or excess grease around the right hand crankshaft bearing. The plastic bushes are manufactured from a self lubricating plastic, so grease is not necessary, and if heavy...
Do not use an O-ring on this application! An O-ring is classified as a "static seal" and should not be used for a rotating application, especially this application because the torque tube (freewheel tube) and crankshaft must be free rotating. Any drag between these two components can cause...
We always try to re-install to the bike manufacturers torque specifications, but 12Nm seems way too low to stop a motor moving around! Although looking at the photo in @Hattori-Hanzo post, I would be reluctant to go much tighter.
I fully agree with your logic @Spiff I would love to sell a tone of seals, but people would get pretty upset when they tried to fit them. The price will not be so bad though, it should be less than 200€ inc tax and labour. Great feedback though.
No idea what would be strong enough or not, we only use the original screws. but looking at them they are:
Flange headed TS25 5 point machine screw M5X0.8X16 Black nitride finish.
If you use a standard type machine screw, find something with a large head to grip the ally mounting bracket and...
