Don't worry, it's no riskier to remove the PCB whether its old or new. What manufacturers should stop doing is fitting PCB at the bottom of the motors!! Yamaha for example have a thick coating on the PCB, but then fit it at the bottom of the motor, in the water! The water then eventually soaks...
