    Rockshox Monarch RT setup questions

The band where his fingers are in the photos is the negative chamber of the shock. You can put bands there to tune as well as the usual side of the central o-ring to increase the ramp up on the positive side. I’m in the same weight range as you, maybe a little more! Hope things work out well...

    Shimano Steps with SRAM EX1

SRAM have extended the e shifters to their usual ranges this year which only shift one gear at a time. That might be useful. The only time I have mashed anything was when I tried to grab too many gears in one go. Not a lot of use if you are running a Shimano derailleur though.

    Shimano Steps with SRAM EX1

Here is a link to the EX1 chain compatibility chart:- https://www.sram.com/sites/default/files/techdocs/gen.0000000005625_rev_a_compatibility_map_2018_e-mtb_components.pdf Shows it is compatible with the Shimano rings. The wider chain will be down to thicker side plates and maintain the same...

    What tool kits?

Use the OneUp EDC and their pump. Hard to beat having a tool immediately available.

E Bike Developments - just in case the industry is listening

I’m holding out for an e version of the Pinion gearbox or similar. I think that will be the next big step forward on the drivetrain front.

Thanks. I may have to reconsider.

Anyone tried the Focus Jam2 Plus LTD?

@Gutch, How are you getting on with the DVO? I was all lined up to install one but the DVO dropper I put on has been garbage so it has put me off a bit.....

    Boltby Bash

I didn’t get a ticket for the Ard Moors last year but rode up on the ebike as it is just up the hill from me. Yeah a right slop fest it was[emoji13]

    Boltby Bash

I did Boltby race on my ebike year before last and the recce this year on my ebike. It’s a great event. Had a ticket for the Ard Moor this weekend but had to work☹️ Don’t think there will be ebike classes on the Ard events anytime soon as they are massively oversubscribed. The Hamsterley...

Recommend some grips for comfortable commuting?

There are all sorts of things you can try but slogging a lot of miles in one position on an mtb can be uncomfortable. Have a go at mixing up your hand position, thumbs under the bars as usual, thumbs over the bar, move your hands closer together for a bit resting on the brake clamps etc and...

Does your E8000 motor sound noisier than when new?

I find mine sounds noisier when I am trying to sneak past folk that are having to work for a living! Brose is definitely a more stealthy unit.

E8000 custom battery as a spare?

Problem with smaller packs is the cells having sufficient C rating to supply the amps required. You cannot get away from having the the correct number of cells in series as you need to keep the same overall voltage. If sticking with LiIon cells you could only really drop to 3 cells in parallel...

    Battery Health

It’s not the batteries it is the Battery Management System which records the data and then passes it on to the App. It manages the whole charge & discharge process. If it does not see the base line upper & lower voltages every once in a while it can build up an accumulation of errors. Using...

    Wheel upgrade advice needed.

MarkH asked for experience. While my experience in based on their existing wheels (which was made clear in my post) it is still relevant. If you have them and they are working out OK that's great however, until there is some ongoing positive experience, to me, placing money elsewhere at this...

    Wheel upgrade advice needed.

Unless Crank Bros have made dramatic improvements to their wheels I would stay well clear. Had two mates who trashed them in very short order. One on an enduro set and one on DH. The enduro wheels were on a Haibike Nduro and were extremely dissapointing. What about a higher spec set of...

Anyone fancy a bit of coaching?

I’m ok with jumps and drops generally. Would be more interested in improving ‘free’ speed with pumping features and line choices. Having a go on the Hopper sounds good!

Anyone fancy a bit of coaching?

How’s the Hopper? Keep eying them up but it is a bit expensive to do the whole table setup. Was a Dixon’s Hollow with my kids, they are clearing the first two table now and trying for the third..... Still not made it to the cycle hub. Didn’t know they had a trail there.
