I understand. As I see it's almost impossible to compare the chain wear between riders. I think wear mostly depends on shifting, riding style, and chain maintenance.
I ride my ebike pretty much the same way as my regular bike. I avoid shifting under load and my 'default' cadence is 80-90. I use...
I think there is a noticeable difference between the handling of a 20kg vs 25kg bike but obviously not as much as a 25kg vs 13kg (if we are talking about mountain bikes).
Absolutely, strength counts a lot regardless of what bike you are riding but even more when you need to muscle around a 25kg...
I tried Wippermann Connex back in the days when I was running 10 speed. It was expensive (gold) with the shortest lifespan and noisy on the Shimano drivetrain.
The 'ebike specific' 99% of the times only means more expensive...
I would be really curious to find out how much (if any) better those...
Well, I rode enough to know what is possible and what's not... In ideal conditions, I can do a solid 1500m in Eco. Unless I lose 30kg from the 85 the 2000m elevation with one battery is impossible... and no, I won't climb 500m with a dead battery. :)
Absolutely, we all have different needs/preferences, choices are great.
I would also like lighter ebikes but right now the choice is limited pretty much to the Lapierre e-Zesty with the Fazua motor and 250Wh battery and most are in the 22-24kg range, Bosch equipped are even heavier.
I don’t like...
We all have different preferences and riding at different places... From the 4000km I only rode in ‘off mode’ when I rode above the assist limit. If the range is questionable then I’m taking the second battery with me. I bought the ebike because of the assist and I see no joy (or point) in...
+1 for external it's much more convenient for my use.
I have a spare battery which I carry sometimes for long rides and it's small, light(ish) and it can easily fit in any of my backpacks. I don't have a heated garage and I keep/charge the battery in the house it takes seconds to take it...
£20 seems nothing but if you look at it at 500 bikes then we are talking about £10,000. It adds up very quickly and that’s why manufacturers save even £1-2 whenever they can. We can call it BS but this is how it works in industrial production.
Hmmm... I'm running the cheapest PC1110 chains and they work perfectly for me. I'm alternating two in every ~1000km and now I'm @3600km and neither of them is stretched to 0.75% I can make ~4500km with them.
OK, that's a firmware thing and it has to do with Bosch's shift sensing, Brose doesn't have it.
In EX the gaps between the gears are too big and the cassette is crazy expensive and it wouldn't be an upgrade. 11 speed is kind of 'sweet spot'.
No, Shimano doesn't have this limitation. I ditched the SRAM from my bike and upgraded it to Shimano XT I like it much better. I can pay attention to shifting the shifter doesn't have to be 'idiot proof'.
