    I’m done with SRAM

I started with GX on my Meta Power but it's cheaply made and even the grass could bend the cage. After bending two GX rear mech I switched to 11 speed XT and no problems since. The Shimano 'Shadow' rear mech tucks in more than SRAM, makes it less exposed. I'm running the cheapest (11€) PC1110...

Fazua Evation, it’s been a while so do we think it’s a good idea?

Absolutely, E8000's Trail mode max output is just as much as in Boost, only the necessary rider input is different to achieve it.

Fazua Evation, it’s been a while so do we think it’s a good idea?

Yes, the E7000/8000 weighs the same. Limiting the E8000 is just theoretical I just compared them to the Fazua's less power in order to be able to run smaller battery without the temptation of running it down in 10 kilometers. :) My whole point was is that the Fazua system is not ay lighter than...

Fazua Evation, it’s been a while so do we think it’s a good idea?

The Evation motor is 1,91kg the BB shell is 1,31kg so with 3,22kg +battery I can’t see the possibility of a huge weight saving. The E8000 motor is 2,8kg which is 0,4kg lighter than the Evation system without a battery. The only appealing thing is the removable battery/motor but personally, I...

    Shimano E8000 recommended service interval?

There is no ‘service interval’ for the motor, pretty much ride it until it breaks. Keep it clean, check the cables and that’s all... and install firmware updates through the app.

Answered Anybody losing weight on an e-mtb?

Last year, I started to gain weight (and lost fitness) when I started to ride my ebike instead of my regular trail bike. This year, I tried to ride 50/50 and ended up riding my trail bike more than my ebike and things went back to ‘normal’. :)

Fox Forks EMTB Specific or not

If you don’t exceed the weight limit (bike+rider) of the fork I don’t see the point of going ‘ebike specific’.

Decoy VS Levo Geometry Differences. The fallacy of Trail Bike VS DH

I’m not really sure if ‘bicycle frame engineer’ is a thing... :)

Decoy VS Levo Geometry Differences. The fallacy of Trail Bike VS DH

Chainstay is just 13mm (not 30mm) shorter on the Decoy. But based on the geo numbers I can’t see what makes the Decoy a ‘Enduro/DH bike’ compared to the Levo. Probably the specifications because the base Levo for comes with 32mm Sektor fork, Level T brakes, no dropper seatpost while the same...

    2020 EMTBs Overpriced?

It looks different to me... ebikes are getting more popular (selling more) so they can raise the prices.. in my opinion, the last couple of years manufacturers were ‘testing waters’ so the prices were reasonable. Now,, they are pushing the prices to see how much the market is willing to pay

    Ebike Optimized Forks Or Not

If you go with the same rider the total weight with the ebike is 15lbs heavier that’s not really rocket science, but you claimed that if the total weight is the same it’s still not the same and I was just waiting for a logical explanation why? The sprung/unsprung weight is the same in both...

    Ebike Optimized Forks Or Not

My Meta has Lyrik and the only 'ebike specific' thing is the pressure chart - "add +10 psi for ebike". :) I have absolutely no problem with it. The Fox 34 is a terribly flexy fork I have it on my Orbea Occam. I'm not surprised if they beefed it up Fox should sell the 'e-bike optimised' version...

    Ebike Optimized Forks Or Not

You claimed that if the rider + bike total weight is 230lbs in both cases that's not the same and I'm still not convinced as you just repeated the same thing. In the cars' case, the tire load requirements depend on the maximum allowed weight of the car/truck + cargo.

    Ebike Optimized Forks Or Not

Why not? Some components - like wheels - have total system weight specified and I don't really see the difference between light rider + heavier bike and heavier rider + lighter bike. I would think that the total weight matters but I'm open to a convincing explanation... On average, an ebike...

    2020 EMTBs Overpriced?

I understand some (or many) will pay 10k for an e-bike but for me, it is just prohibitive no matter how much money I have. I just can't see how the 10k new Merida is 2x better than my Meta Power as costs twice as much. Same engine, battery capacity, suspension components, brakes... only carbon...

    Stronger Wheels?

I’m very satisfied with the Oozy Trail 395 rims on my Meta they are bomb proof. For 2,5/2,8 tires the 35mm internal width is perfect.

    2020 - Meta Power

That’s interesting, but in my opinion the higher COG of the 2020 is clearly visible. The motor tilted more down in the 2019, the COG is determined from the ground and in your gif the wheels are not level. Nobody will check the words of the marketing guys, they are going with the trend of the...

What features do you like from the 2020 offerings?

I’m in my second season with my Commencal Meta Power and I would buy the same again. For me, the 2020 offerings don’t add anything valuable. I like the convenience/size/weight of the external 504Wh battery and the capacity is spot on.

How much battery do you need on your next emtb?

I have two 500Wh and it’s perfect for me. 95% of rides one battery is enough or I’ll swap at the car and for the occasional long rides I’ll carry the spare. That’s why I prefer external batteries, light(ish) and small easy to carry.

    Fire danger from lithium batteries.

Well, ICE cars are catching on fire for decades and people are still driving them... :) If you use undamaged original ebike batteries with original chargers I don't think you will have a problem. It's not more dangerous than a can of petrol.
