Got my badass box for my Merida R160 900E Shimano Motor with Di2, and am really pleased with it. Managed 46 Km/hr on the flat with the stock gearing, which is plenty. Best thing is how it has smoothed out the ride by not coming up against the awful braking feeling when the limiter comes in.
I got The 2019 Merida E160 900E after trying 2018 Mondraaker, Specialized, Scott, and Haibike. Value for money wise and rideability, the Merida won easily. Shorter chain stays, better suspension, and bakes than the other bikes. I would have liked to try the 2019 Specialized, but the price...
The current New Zealand regulations do not have a speed limit for pedal assist bikes, just a 300 engine Watt power limit. However the manufacturers have the bike engine assist limits set when they arrive in New Zealand. For Brose, Shimano and Yamaha that limit is set at 32 km/hr or 20 mph. For...
Mine has just started making the clicking sound, wasn't doing it from new. Only done 150 km. Sounds like it coming from the headset, or fork area, very annoying, since it was originally a quiet bike. Will talk to the LBS mechanic if I can't find whats causing it myself.
Had a great ride 35 km all in trail mode, 1 bar left which had turned red, but I was pushing it, and plenty of climbing. Brilliant being able to drop the seat post when required without having to move my grip on the bars. Love this bike!
Picked the bike up at the shop, and in the meantime, he figured out he would need to run the cable externally rather than internally, so now its on the left side as per original. Going out for a blast now, should be good to have the dropper easy to reach & use.
Reason I am changing the mode selector is I have purchased an under bar dropper post lever, and I need room to operate the dropper without having to move my thumb under the original mode levers to reach the dropper lever.
Just had a call from my LBS, fitting a SW 6000 mode switch to my E160 900E, wire is not long enough to reach my DI2 computer, he has had to move the computer to the left hand side of the of the stem, not ideal, but I suppose that's better than cutting and joining the wire ?
The speed restriction is annoying for me. I live in New Zealand, and the speed limit is set at 32 km/r, and my Shimano motor assists up to 32 km/hr and to me, that is too slow on the flat. I can pedal my unassisted mountain bike up to 36 km/hr on the flat no problem, so I don't understand what...
Might still change the dropper at some stage as its hard to position the reverb button in the right place for easy activation, due to the mode change system being in the way.
Just picked up my new Merida E160 900E in size medium, and will have to take it back to the shop, the lowest seat height is too high for me. Will I need a different dropper post, or can they shorten it to get it lower in the seat post ?

After much deliberation, and reading reviews and trying out a few E mountain bikes, I have decided to get two E mountain bikes, one for the wife and one for myself. I wanted to get the new 2019 Specialized Expert for myself, and a 2019 comp model for my wife, but they have priced themselves out...
