...And it's still using Bosch motors! It does look nice though. From £5200 for the 9.7 with 12-sp NX and a carbon frame to £7250 for the 9.9 with full Eagle but still only a 500Wh battery.

Thanks, just seen these myself and was going to post, nice integration. I did test ride a 2018 Powerfly 7 and it was a nice bike but the motor noise was too loud for my liking, also prefer the design of the Levos that bit more, however 2019 Treks have certainly improved on the aesthetics.

From the marketing stuff on their website:

The tech you get
A lightweight and trail-tough OCLV Mountain Carbon main frame that fully encases a long-range 500 Wh battery for great aesthetics and protection on the trail, a Bosch Performance CX motor and a Purion controller. Plus, an e-bike optimised FOX Factory 36 fork with thicker, stiffer, legs and a RE:aktiv shock, grippy 27.5+ mid-fat tyres, Bontrager Line Pro 40 carbon wheels with a 108-tooth Rapid Drive hub for instant engagement, a Bontrager Line dropper post, a 1x12 SRAM XX1 Eagle drivetrain and 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes.

It's right for you if...
You're looking for the highest-end e-MTB for the highest-end adventures. Sleek and rugged. Light and tough. Hard-working and fun. If this bike seems like a contradiction, it's because it breaks the rules and demolishes boundaries – including whatever limit you've set for your riding.

The final word
No compromises. Powerfly LT 9.9 brings the highest-quality trail bike parts and a powerful Bosch pedal-assist system to a lightweight OCLV Mountain Carbon frame to make performance ride that has one purpose: to give you the greatest trail adventures ever.

Why you'll love it
  1. Trek's Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) system looks great and is super user-friendly: it fully hides the battery in the frame for protection, makes it easy remove the battery without tools and lets you mount a water bottle cage – even on full suspension e-MTBs
  2. OCLV Mountain Carbon main frame with alloy stays make for a bike that's light and trail-tough, Longer travel suspension and 27.5+ mid-fat tyres are the perfect combination for traction, stability and capability on rough trails
  3. An advanced spec including e-MTB-specific parts and Trek's RE:aktiv damper take this model to the next level
  4. It rides like a mountain bike because it is one: it has the same frame and suspension tech that we've refined in our decades-long trail heritage

Its a very neat battery solution.

I still don't get why brands mix shimano and sram

It’s getting a bit long in the tooth and is due an update. It doesn’t decouple when switched off or you are over the speed restriction making it hard to pedal. At slow speed it’s like riding in treacle, it not so bad at high speed but it is noticeable especially when you consider it’s a 22kg bike your moving. I once ran out of battery near the end of a hard 20 mile ride at the bottom of a valley... Never again!

It is a stonking motor though, very punchy.

I think the biggest issue with the Performance CX is the physical size. This bike has got 474mm chainstays, that's a bit disappointing for a 2019 bike.

Its interesting how much it weighs - i believe the shimano motor is at least 1kg lighter, not sure about battery weight, but when you factor in both it may be as much as a 2kg difference between Shimano and Bosch depending on how the bike integrates the battery. I think Bulls is the only brand that does similar bikes with the botch and shimano motors

I've got both 500Wh batteries, and I've weighed them:
Bosch 500 (13,4Ah=482Wh) - 2560g
Shimano BT-E8010 (14Ah=504Wh) - 2620g

If we look at the batteries for integration, it seems the Bosch is lighter than the Shimano.

So, the Bosch is a bit lighter, but also slightly less capacity. This site claims the Performance is 8,8lbs (4kg)
Bosch eBike Systems Motor Comparison

Shimano claims 2,8kg for the E8000 motor
E8000 STEPS MTB system - SHIMANO STEPS

So you're right at least 1kg... Seems to be 1,1+ kg.

Yeah, the battery integration on this bike looks nice. The lid is attached to the battery and can be bought separately if you need more batteries, I've read somewhere. But the battery seems to be sitting quite high on the frame though, so center of gravity probably is higher than many other bikes.

I'd have to disagree. I'd say anything 150 plus is long travel and until the advent of eBikes 170 plus was unthinkable on a do it all bike due to power loss through the suspension dynamics.
