    Review VoltX Bifocal Safety/Cycling glasses

I tried out Toolfreak Rebel bifocal safety sunglasses and they made a huge difference. I can actually read the battery percentage on the Kiox while I'm on the move now. I knew I was trending farsighted but I didn't expect this much of a difference. Thanks @Zimmerframe! Two downsides with this...

Is 25 mm more travel worth buying a new dropper?

When people talk about "More travel" on a dropper, they usually mean a lower saddle when compressed, but it doesn't have to be. It's just ... more travel. For example, if your preferred pedaling saddle height minus your preferred descending saddle height is longer than your post's travel, you'll...

    Review VoltX Bifocal Safety/Cycling glasses

I may try something like this. I can read my Garmin displays fine but reading the Kiox battery percentage on the title bar is almost hopeless to interpret on the move.

Is 25 mm more travel worth buying a new dropper?

Assuming you don't like pedaling with a low saddle, absolutely. I started off with 125mm and 150mm droppers. The 125mm dropper felt too high even on steep fire roads while the 150 felt just adequate. I'd say that if you can live with the extra weight and the post is made well (and it seems...

Unanswered Geo questions about keeping weight on the front wheel

Thanks Gary, I think my riding position was about as low and forward as I reasonably could get it, but I'll make a deliberate effort to try to press lower and more forward and be more conscientious about how I'm pulling on the bars. A freak lightning storm cut yesterday's ride short so I'll...

Unanswered Geo questions about keeping weight on the front wheel

There's a particular steep and scrabbly trail I like to ride on my eMTB. I thought it would be an interesting challenge to try it out on my 2017 Evil Wreckoning. It wasn't as bad of an experience as I feared: I had to stop now and then to catch my breath, and it was a lot harder to maintain...

    New products we need

You'll need to have a really beefy chainstay on one side to have enough empty space to fit a stand in there. You'd most likely want an durable sleeve inside the stay as well to isolate the stand from abrading the stay's inner walls or letting crud get inside the stay. That'll all add weight and...

    New products we need

I've used O-Tus helmet speakers for a few years. They look like earbuds but you fix them to your helmet. Doesn't interfere with hearing at all and the sound doesn't carry very far, so it's minimal intrusion for other trail users. O-Tus Helmet Speakers Last year I switched to the Oraolo M110...

    Pic of the Day

It *is* a weird organic variation on a Y-bike :). Wasn't mine, but the owner was nice enough to let me take it for a spin.

    Pic of the Day

Whoops! intended to add a couple other photos and got distracted. They're in now. Yeah, definitely a wet and cool day on the mountain and it didn't seem bothered by it in the least. It also had to have reasonably good capacity for the time, considering cool conditions and I think the rider hit...

    Pic of the Day

Looking through some old photos, I found this old gem. On a chance encounter on the Mount Wilson Toll Road in February 2010, this was the first e-bike I ever experienced (Optibike R8). I'm not even sure if it used lithium batteries. Times sure have changed and you definitely get more for your...

Will EMtb cause the eventual demise of the Uplift ?

Over Memorial Day weekend at Mammoth Mountain BIke Park, only the lower portion of the park is typically open and a shuttle service takes you up to a bus stop near the main lodge. I used the eMTB exclusively over that weekend and riding back up was a much better experience than waiting the 30-40...

what are your feelings on riding trails that are in USFS areas?

Not true. The logic they apply is totally reductionist: Motor + bike = Motorbike. After that there's no reasoning to be had and the only avenue that might prove persuasive isn't words but a test ride. Some will immediately get it and others will double down.

    Fox 38 Harshness?

Here's a Secus with some XHF 50mm heat shrink tubing to protect the barrel. It's reasonably thick and tough for what it is.

Was anyone on here a full blown ebike hater who converted?

Nah, a random generous ebiker I met out in the forest let me try out his bike (this was roughly 2010) and I immediately got the appeal.

    Fox 38 Harshness?

Nice. Are you running any tokens? As an aside, if you notice the fork losing pressure, one of the bolts at the footstud assembly of the Secus sometimes isn't torqued right from the factory, resulting in a very slow leak. Spraying some soapy water around it will help spot any issue.

    Expected range with two batteries

Fair enough - "Mountainous Tour" is simply too vague. It's the highest setting in the app and 2200m/100k isn't that much of an incline.

    Expected range with two batteries

Take with a grain of salt, but the numbers this calculator returned didn't seem too far off the mark as long as you make sure not to overlook any of the input parameters. https://www.bosch-ebike.com/us/service/range-assistant

2021 Wild FS M10 rattle.... I think its the battery.... anyone else experienced and eradicated?

Make sure to check for play in the headset. As Mteam reported, the bottom tabs on the internal battery cover can rattle - mine came with heat shrink applied to quiet them down. The heat shrink was misplaced with a tech was working on my bike, but it's easy enough to replace. If you have a dual...
