I think part of the problem is that once water gets in, it's not really got anywhere to go.
Ok, water will run out the whole on the bottom of the frame but moisture in the connectors etc just isn't going to dissipate quickly.
I removed my motor at the weekend and despite not seeing any rain...
You wouldn't need to remove the upper pivot bearings to fit the Cascade linkage.
That said however, it's not hard to remove them. Best way (for me) is with an expanding bearing puller. Fit it to the bearing, as you tighten it it grips the inner race and then you tap it out from the other side...
Mines the same. Once you've got 3 (?) full threads of engagement, you've got about as much clamping force as you're going to get. Deeper engagement doesn't rally add anything. Just make sure it's greased and torqued and it'll be fine.
I keep meaning to buy that Pilo hanger. The standard one is...
Pretty sure I had a similar fault come up at about 400 miles. Can't remember the code now. It was a wet day. Axle deep puddles kind of wet and it gave up after about 6 hours.
A few days in the garage to dry out and it was fine. Haven't had any other issues and I'm on about 1000 miles now...
I spent some more time poking around today. The shock buses felt fine but the new ones were definitely a tighter fit so I'm wondering whether it was them all along. Guess I'll find out tomorrow!
Have flex on the rear triangle? Pretty much all of them. Even my hardtail flexes noticeable when pushed hard.
Some bikes flex more than others depending on how the frame and linkage is designed. The Rise is a bit on the spindly side but it's designed as a 'lightweight' trail bike so to a...
My 530 has no issues staying connected for 7+ hours so I wouldn't think it's an inherent problem with the Rise. Although that's not to say there's not a problem with your rise.
I'd try pairing your phone and using St Ride or something for your logging and see if you get a reliable connection...
Thanks.
It's definitely not the motor though. I can hear the normal motor rattle at the same time as this other noise. It's definitely a banging/ knocking kinda rattle with a much deeper sound than the motor rattle.
Lateral play I'm fine with but there's a detectable amount of axial play in...
Cheers for the suggestion!
I've checked the chainstay protector along with anything and everything bolted to the frame 😂
This is more of a clonking thudding noise that a rattle. I swear I'm hearing in my sleep!
I dont hate you any more than I hate myself for having the same thought 😂
I'll fit the new shock bushes when they arrive and see if I can find somewhere locally to recreate the noise. Don't have much in the way of trails so will need to find a gravel track or something.
If the noise is still...
Oh, also checked the motor mounting bolts, the plastic cover for the motor, chainstay protector, saddle clamps, headset, stem bolts. Have the rear wheel a clean and checked the hub body and spoke tensions (by hand). Gave the frame a look over and can't see any cracks.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Status update as of today...
Rear wheel bearings are all good. No play in the hub or freehub. End caps are okay, axle isn't broken.
I still can't find any play in the suspension linkage. None of the bearings have any play and I can't feel any play or hear...
Thanks for the suggestions.
Headset was replaced recently due to the crappy plastic spacer on the standard headset moving around. Definitely not the culprit this time though.
I've sleeved the cables running through the downtube as best I could manage when I first got the bike. It's a far...
Okay, status update...
Ride today without the extender and it still rattles like a bag of spanners.
It's worse while pedalling and even worse peddling while seated over rough ground. I've double checked most of the bearings in the rear end but rancour of time. Still need to check the upper...
I noticed a lot of tyre rub on the inside of my chainstay today while investigating a different problem. I'm fairly light and ride a lot of natural stuff where there aren't berms etc to rail, it must just be flex in the rear end. It suprised me to be honest.
What to do about it? No idea. I...
Yeah, it's all nice and tight and the o ring is in place. I'm not convinced that it is the battery to be honest but I can't find anything else loose anywhere.
Small thread hijack... Any idea whether the piggyback works with the range extender? It looks like a big shock and there's not a whole lot of room with the extender fitted.
