In addition, it would not be good if the latch exerted a large force on the battery connector in the down tube. I think Cascade Components has done a really good job here. The engineering explanation is that if you increase the clamping force F, you also increase the friction force between the...
Yes, exactly! But I guess if you would make it too tight (in order that you would bend the metal holder) you would not be able to close the latch lever anymore. So, as always, you need a bit of tact... :)
Unfortunately, Cascade Components does not provide any explanation or instructions on how to correctly attach the latch. I will try to explain how the adjustment mechanism for increasing the clamping force (symbol F in the pic below) works. It's not that easy, so I quickly made a small sketch...
At the weekend I had time to test the Cascade Components aluminum latch. As shown previously, I installed it and adjusted it (with the large Allen screws) so that it is absolutely secure and you can shake the entire bike with a lot of force using your hand on the latch. The battery does not move...
Installed the Cascade Components latch today. Still 0 km with it but at least it fits very well. You can shake the whole bike hard at the latch without the battery moving within the mount. That looks really good, bomb-proof. And you can even adjust it if it should come loose. The aluminum latch...
Let's wait for @Mario Antony. I think he has a good solution. And if he has tested it enough he hopefully will reveal it here. And of course if the battery is fixed well and cannot move the Bosch motor is also known for its rattling noises on descents... This is (technically) not a problem at...
Don't agree, Bosch is obviously a supplier! And as you say ... for a reason... they choose a specific design. So, if a bike manufacturer doesn't stick to the requirements Bosch should have a say, because that is not according to the requirements. Just compare to what happens in other branches...
That's what I'm saying too. The Canyon Strive:On has an extremely unfortunate (to put it mildly) design when it comes to the battery mount. The 750Wh battery from Bosch weighs 4.3 kg. Hanging it not on the rail provided for it, but only on the latch, is something that no reasonably experienced...
I finally got it. It got stuck at customs for a bit... well, Swiss customs... Of course with the four screws for the battery (in case anyone is worried about that). Looks good and the quality is OK, as expected. Dilbert also took a look at it and thinks it's great. I'll keep you updated on how...
There are different positions where the battery can cause the noise. Please have a look at the STRIVE:ON POWER CUTOUTS forum from @Mario Antony and also some posts from him in this forum. He describes very well what can go wrong at the latch and the upper bracket. You'll have to check the screws...
Hi Mike,
First of all: the Strive:On is not available with the older (non-smart) Bosch system. Even if it were, it wouldn't change anything, because Canyon actually only uses the battery rail to guide the cables under the battery. The battery itself is not attached to the "rail" at all, but only...
I just bought one. 116 USD + 48.41 USD shipping to Switzerland is a bit tough. Hope it fully solves the problem and we all can forget about the latch issue. πππππππππππππππ
@Mario Antony: What are your further experiences with your "anti-rattle battery device"? Is there any news, will you soon be at 1000km without any problems... Let us hear from you, with nice pictures if you like...
No issue, my question was purely rhetorical (to put you under pressure π€£). I've already said before that I understand it (but it still gnaws at me every time I read your posts and I want to know). I'm an engineer (not for bicycles) and I also deal with these things professionally. By the way...
Wonderful pictures and a wonderful ride (as far as I can tell from the pictures and your story), congratulation.
But you make it very exciting what your secret anti-rattle battery device is.
How many km do we have to wait until you reveal it?
