Went for a bimble with a mate who has an SL. I’m on the old e8000. On climbs the SL was similar noise to my 8000 on dialled up eco. SL Wasn’t a quiet as thought it would be with lower torque however when I rode it the delivery of power is very smooth. Like an Audi auto gearbox. My 8000 is rather...
Hi Gary
tried a message but ended up on the forum, didnt want to hijack the OP.
I’d like the wild camping of Scotland when you’ve opened the border. Never biked there. Would be super. A real UK gem.
yes many trails around here built to test bikes and ex DH nationals guys. Well beyond me...
When this COVID crisis is in a more manageable form ( we are locked down in Wales) & if you’re uk based come on over and we can have a laugh on some ridiculous climbs ...walk Mode time ;-)

Im sure you probably pushed to the top as I did. You can climb steeper more technical stuff on an eMtb, hence the power stages on E EWS rounds.
You are right I’m certainly not gifted on a bike.
I spent 25 years on a non Ebike before going with a motor. Only started more technical DH stuff 6 years ago after moving to an area with some great trails.
Ive certainly met some riders with new eMtb kit out in our local trails who have struggled on stuff that at 56 I ride weekly solo (not so...
Hi, no link other than to myself having tested for my own use mullet bikes vs non mullet for years.
The enduro 29 loves to be mullet for certain conditions (steep and gnar) so I swap rear wheel around accordingly. For longer climbs and more distance a 29 goes in the back.
Made my 27.5 boost...
interesting comment; where do you think Spesh need to catch up ? The Kenevo has always been the DH monster truck and Levo more trail/enduro. Spesh are up there in terms of integration of motor/battery/controls/rider.
overall eMtb have progressed amazingly although some “older” designs are...
That’s definitely a plan.
however don’t fully discount a “full fat” Ebike. They actually start to feel a lot lighter than they actually are and you can fine tune power output to overcome weight etc.
ive Had it on authority that the SL lower output motor is pretty bomber...very few if any...
I’ve rarely had an opportunity to fully test a new bike. It’s tough to fully emulate the total environment you will use the bike in both now and in the future.
Over a few bikes I’ve regretted only one, which was a bike of the year that drew me to it. Not an Ebike.
The other issue is sheer...
Try clicking on "default" and see if it updates. If it does and you want to run in default mode (designed for an average rider/environment rather like the ECU in a car) then click on update.
Don't be afraid playing around in the parameters off the app with support settings in each mode to suit...
I'm running a 27.5 x 2.6 wild on the rear. Goes well but if you want better straight line rear wheel braking and good bite on steeper stuff flip the tyre round. Then you have biting edges in centre not the "battery saving" ramps. Grips like mad now in most stuff. Doesn't eat battery either. Find...
I'm very surprised if Shimano, during testing didn't pick up on the clunking. It's a bit obvious from the GoPro footage.
Wonder if it's another issue ?
Hi Rob: If possible, not only the motor but how/if the new motor/battery has affected the weight distribution, geometry and handling of the bikes. Better technical climbing with more torque? Cornering feel ? Etc. If the motor is lighter having more weight around the BB can actually help in...
mmmmm.....bearings being a moving part are normally designed to be replaced as per BB, Frame set, car wheels, bushings etc.
You can pull a Banfang motor apart mind.
Onward and upward.
Is the EP8 a "factory sealed unit" or can it be serviced ? I.e. can bearings etc be replaced. This would be the biggest leap in faith.
A far more important factor, IMHO than torque levels software support etc.
I'm coming up to the end of the warranty period on my 8000 and hoping nothing...
I very much doubt the form factor of Bosche is exactly the same as Shimano. As you say interchangeable motors would be great but proprietary elements prevail for product kick in.
An insider has told me that we are still at the Nokia 3310 end of development and no where near the first launch of...
The Fazua Evation seems to be a positive move towards separating the motor from BB ? It seems a great idea.
I also agree about weight distribution. Having a battery inserted into alnoyfull length of downtube and away from BB area must have an effect on handling. Others will be more informed as...
Using the basic version of STUnlocker has opened the parameters of my e8000 although doesn't have ability to change cadence vs. torque. That seems more deeply embedded in the motor and speed controller design.
I agree. Shimano really need to get to grips with service and maintenance rather than...
