I did exactly the same, slightly raising ECO to be able to use it more.
And, it is so much fun to rage through the woods on flat or slightly uphill trails in BOOST and US-speed setting.
I don't think Boost is insane, here in the Alps in Switzerland you definitely need it at times. There are places you'd have to get off and push the bike... Not very often, but still.
Of course, this is only valid for me, unfortunately, my 2nd name is not Nino Schurter...
Hi,
The part number is Shimano Steps SM-DUE11 and it is an easy to find replacement part, either from bigger stores or online.
The cable connects to the motor, not to the display. You need to channel it through the frame to the motor, but that is no problem. You need to remove the motor, it...
Oh hell, what a disappointment after the long wait! This looks really bad. There must have been some force involved and if not at transport, then at or even before packaging?
I emailed YT on some occasions, you won't get a reply forever, keep on trying to get through by phone.
Yes, it is odd that such a cheap and simple part can bring your bike to a standstill.
I fiddled around with the sensor. When I loosened the screws of the sensor, the error disappeared, when I tightened them more, it stopped working. But as said, it did not work at all when not pedaling, but at...
Hi,
I had the same issue. Came back from a ride, washed the bike, next day, I had the error. I fiddled around with the speed sensor at the back and eventually, the error disappeared, but speed was only showing when I was pedaling, so not very trustworthy. I did not want to end up with the error...
I flipped back and forth several times between high and low. The high setting gives me less pedal and motor strikes and more control in technical sections. The low setting clearly gives more confidence in fast downhill sections and a bit more of a "being one with the bike" feeling. The...
No, still no news. I contacted YT for another issue I had and asked about the battery in the same email, they did not even attempt to answer the question...
How else should it get the speed if not from the sensor? If the motor itself would have to measure it, it would have to know in what gear you are and what drivetrain you are using. Maybe with the Di2 that would be working, but not with manual shifting.
Eventually, I did not take the bike to a Shimano service center but replaced the speed sensor myself today. It is a bit painful because you need to remove the motor on my YT Decoy to get to the cable. Took me a couple of hours, but now it works again. So, after all, it was just this 25 Euro...
I finally replaced my speed sensor today and had to drop the motor to get to the cable. A few findings:
1) It is doable;)
2) There was no dirt or dampness at all under the frame. So, even though the constructions looks a bit "airy", it seems to be holding off the bad stuff.
3) The cables are...
I am 6'1" and went for the XL, it's good, I think I could also live with the L if I'd like it more agile. I went for more stability on downhills, so XL is just fine. If you want to throw it around, it should be good for you as well.
Terve!
Nice video, maybe you should pay attention that you have less back light from the window, it's sometimes a bit dark. And I would never mount my bike on the carbon frame, especially when you wiggle it back and forth. But I guess that is another discussion :)
Have fun and happy riding!
Yesterday, when trying it on the stand with a simple magnet, it seemed to work. However, today, I took my baby out and in real life conditions, the issue still exists with the wrong speeds. Even when pedaling without any pull on the chain, the speed shows correctly, so it can't be the flex...
I just tried with a fridge magnet as a temporary solution and indeed, it works! How can it be that this problem is not appearing more often if it is really about the distance (or strength) of the magnet? Now I'm gonna get some of these neodym magnets to make the fix permanent.
@urastus - you...
Thanks for the answer. The idea about the flex could really be the issue. I noticed when removing and screwing the sensor back on, if I tightened the screws too much, there was no speed measuring at all... Could it be that a fraction of a mm makes the difference? Wow, that would be a thing! I...
I have the following issue on my YT Decoy. It all started with error code W011 (speed cannot be read). I removed, cleaned and reinstalled the speed sensor, magnet and everything looks good and undamaged. The result is that the error disappeared, however, the correct speed is only shown as long...
