    Guy from Sweden here!

Välkommen! Getting hold of an eMTB will be bit of a challenge. Between long and very long delivery is to be expected. Good luck hunting for one, you’ll need it!! First one I got (pre-covid era) I could choose and test bikes from the retailer’s around Stockholm Second bike, not so much. Ended...

Can’t complain on the stock suspension either. Coil and the fox38 are buttery smooth.

@Gyre - You are right, both bikes are relevant. The reason I got a second bike and not a replacement in the first place was to always have a working steed. Be it wheels, gears, brakes or electrical issues that demand repairs and parts, you end up not being able to get out. That sucked! Being me...

For now I’ll leave out any comments on range as I can’t compare them in midst of winter. For now, I’m happy with a better dialed assistance from the EP8. Comparing bikes is difficult in the sense that they aim to be used a bit differently. The Rail is more aimed at AM, even though it descends...

    2021 Santa Cruz Bullit

I have no experience with the Heckler. I do however own a Trek Rail as well. Straight out of the box the Bullit default assistance settings are very high in comparison to my Rail in similar modes (eco/trail) - the ones I use the most. After gradually tuning down assistance on the EP8/Bullit...

    2021 Santa Cruz Bullit

Waiting for spring before I dare commenting more on range. We’ll see if I dare take the Bullit on some of the longer routes I’ve completed on my Rail. I’ll report back once things start to dry up, and weather is a bit nicer. Feeling I have is the EP8 is not as effective in terms of power...

    2021 Santa Cruz Bullit

I’d agree the Code RSC bakes are the one thing I likely will change on the bike. The brakes are not bad, but I don’t like the feel of them. I appreciate aggressive brakes, and the RSC’s are not aggressive. Will try a few different pads to see if that can be adjusted. If not, I’ll swap em for a...

@Ricky101uk - Post some photos once you start your build. Sounds like an awsome setup! I love the stock Fox 38, and the Coil. Did however invisiframe and AXS upgrade before hitting my first trail with the bike. Simply love it!

Sure. These are my current settings. Nice part is you can customize this even further for long days out. I mostly use Eco, and Trail with the occasional boost up the steep stuff.

I actually have a Rail as well, and the Bullit (EP8) default power assist settings are comparably high to the Bosch Gen4. It is very noticeable in Eco and Trail. Had the same experience as you the first time out on the Bullit. Battery drained really quick and ended up biking without assistance...

    Heavyweight looking for suited EMTB

Just as a side note on prepping your bike for a heavy rider. The DT swiss hybrid (emtb) wheels are rated up to 150kg, and Mavic recently came out with a set rated at 180kg for emtb bikes. May be worth a look.

    Waterproof Boots

I have no issues with the Himalaya boots what so ever. Only use them during autumn/winter when it is wet and muddy. Use Fox Defend (fire) pants over the shoes. Always have warm/dry feet after a ride. Ride flats, and sure - grip could be better. That however is something I’m willing to sacrifice...

Future EMTB: More power & range or lightweight (15-20kg)?

It’s a new year again! Bikes have have become lighter, (Orbea Rise, Levo SL, Forestal, etc). Even rumors of a Kenevo/Enduro SL... Range, well lower power motors can give you extra range. Battery tech still hasn’t gone through any revolution. Battery Day hasn’t revolutionized, no alien UFO has...

    2021 Santa Cruz Bullit

Yup. Tried this today as well. Running out of battery as well on my way home. Bit of a workout once the battery is depleted. [emoji23] Not a big fan of the battery status readout showing ‘bars’. Would like percentage as well, but haven’t found a way to change it yet. In general eco and trail...
