Cheers for this, Rob.

Proud owner of an admittedly sub-par but slightly modded Focus Bold 2 Ltd hardtail but (a) my riding is mostly road-based and (b) budget kept my choice on the low side when coupled with buying 2 x ebikes to include my son.

As things evolve and I learn more from the good folks here plus group rides, I suspect I'll trade up. Jam2 looks favourable although there's a few other tempting options.

Very happy with the Shimano motor and T.E.C. battery for range though. Also, the comfortable geometry.

Thanks Rob thought I was alone for quite some time...

NOW .....how about a TEC pack group buy .

PS they might be one of the lightest bikes BUT had to carry mine over a ploughed field today .
The mud was so sticky it stopped the wheels revolving ..after I had cleaned out the gloop it just returned on the next revolution.
Wont be going that way until its drier.
Have Fun on your Foci i

Went for a road ride on the Focus Jam2 this morning with a couple of mates on their road bikes. 105.8km, 497m climbing. quite windy (typical Wellington). All ECO mode, just got into the third bar on my second battery, showed 37km range left. So probably would have got to 140km on the two batteries. (first battery ran out at 71km).

Hi akkypac, I went back to the shop, Rutland cycles, where I brought my Jam2 ltd for £2800 and price has dropped to £2200! Think only size large left, but amazing bike for that kind of money.

Great deal but I'm a Medium and will probably wait until 2020 to see what options are available (and allow for a new budget!). Will hopefully catch up next Sunday AND with a No Stans tubeless conversion. Have reached my wits end with two consecutive punctures this weekend, the latter with NO CO2, just off a busy road and freezing!

I've just ordered a Jam2 from Rutland Cycles this morning. I was thinking of a Jam2 medium last week but none left at Rutland for £2249.99, only large. Checked again last night and medium available! Thought about it over night & if still available today would order one. It was... so I did!

I've already got a Vitus E-Sommet but wanted a bike I could ride more XC and the TEC battery option gives me more mileage.

Stop tempting me! :) I do love the look of the latest Jam2 and already having a TEC battery certainly helps. Mind you, I do also like the specs of the Vitus, Canyon and Specialised Levo whose owners don't help with their unbridled enthusiasm! ;)

That Rutland price is almost £1k less than I paid 9months ago
and that was with a suposed discount !
And without the TEC pack..
Still love it though :p
If you want to dispose of your TEC pack give me a shout.
Have fun all

Sorry for getting such a good deal ;)

The TEC pack is one of the main reasons I got this bike. I was considering buying a spare Shimano battery for my E-Sommet but I didn't fancy having to carry it in a my back pack. OK having a spare battery at a bike park where you can just go swap it but no long Lake District, UK rides.

I called Rutland to see about a good deal on a TEC pack as I'd paid for the bike. Left it with them as I have a 90 day return option on an unused bike. I won't be able to ride it for a month or so due to rotator cuff repair work on my shoulder and told them I might send it back if they wouldn't give me a good TEC pack deal :sneaky:

I test rode a 2017 Focus Jam2 Pro Plus in October 2017. I rode 3 different trails but didn't really like it. I couldn't get my Android moby to connect to the Steps with the E-Tube app and adjust the power settings. I was a bit disappointed in the low mileage from the std battery... only 19 miles and 2,415ft on the default settings :-(

But I have an iPhone 5s now and use it on the E-Sommet which has the same Steps system (apart from the battery) as the Focus, so happy days!

And they've sold out now in all sizes... Focus Jam2 Plus Ltd 2018 Electric Mountain Bike Black £2,249.99

If they came back to me with that price I might have one. I'm letting them think about it

Since we now have our own Focus group I thought I’d stick up a couple of pics of my 2018 Jam2 Factory. Had in a couple of months and absolutely love it. I’m 16st and am getting 3000ft of climbing on a charge which is pretty good I reckon!

Guess what guys? That medium Jam2 I ordered... Rutland can't find a medium at any of their shops so they have offered me a Scott E-Genius for the same price instead.

I used to have a Scott Spark MTB and loved it but don't like the sound of their ebikes and I want a Jam2 so I can add the TEC pack. They have a large still available but the medium was borderline sizewise and the large is way too big even though it is a bargain.

Sorry to hear that... If it's one of these then I'd suggest it's not really a like-for-like replacement:

Scott E-Genius 730 2018 Electric Mountain Bike £2,499.99

I'd be seeking a heavy discount on a 2019 6.7 Nine or a free TEC pack. May be a long wait though until they have stock...

This is the bike... Scott E-Genius 720 2018 Electric Mountain Bike Grey - Buy Online £2,999.99

A good saving but not what I really wanted. I might just upgrade my Vitus E-Sommet now and get another battery. I tried my battery in my backpack and it doesn't feel that heavy (y)

I've been looking at the latest Jam2 but haven't got that much to spend. I might just wait 'til this time next year and wait until they are discounted again ;)

A medium here if it’s what your looking for.

That's a lot of bike for £3.2k.

Not a good enough spec for me. I'm not a great fan of Magura brakes or SRAM shifters. The Fox forks are better than the Reba RL on the cheaper model but that's about it. I do like the colours though!

If I spend £3k on a bike at the moment, it needs to have the Shimano BT-E8010 battery so I have a spare for both my bikes. My Vitus E-Sommet has Steps E8000 system and uses that battery. My favourite at the moment is the Neuron:ON 5.0 | CANYON

I have a 2017 Jam2 Plus Pro and a 2017 Turbo Levo Expert 6fattie. I call the Levo my Cadillac and the Jam2 my Jaguar for all the reasons those names imply. I have a T.E.C. pack for the Jam2 and an extra battery for the Levo. With that the Levo wins on range. Bikepacking with paniers, I chose the Jam2. With a trailer the Levo. I have sent the Levo to the shop many....many times. Luckily the Focus has never had a problem. Since they backed out of North America I'm not sure how to get service under warranty in Washington State. I love them both for different reasons. If I had to I would probably keep the Focus.
