Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Nope.... There are more 1.1.0.0 update possibilities ; my local dealer asked specific which updated I wanted. So, I think you got the update for a 'non mtb' e-bike. Please ask for the 85nm updated with E-MTB modus. Please also ask for a diagnostic report so you can check other parameter like wheel-size etc.
Thanks, looks like it's a trip to the local dealer, and see if he'll reconfigure the update for me. Thanks for the tip.

On my R&M Supercharger2 I have "Sport" but was of the understanding it used Sport parameters, adapting to the pedalling style being used. Increasing or decreasing assistance between Tour and Turbo style?

No, EMTB-modus has the "Increasing or decreasing assistance between Tour and Turbo style", not the sport-modus.

Just ordered a volspeed myself after a lot of reading, really excited can't wait to install it and try it out, from what I gather from reading a lot of user experiences it seems the key to avoid 504's is to not set the speed limit too high.

If you have sport it means you have an older firmware version on your CX, the newer firmware replaces sport with emtb which is a dynamic setting that adapts assistance as you ride.

Not correct..... You can choose between 2 new firmware's (1.1.0.0) for your CX ; one with E-Mtb enabled (replaces Sport) and the other one with the 'regular' Eco/Tour/Sport/Turbo.

Oh really? I did not know, Bosch marketing and information makes it sound like it's not optional.

So what would you bunch pick? I like the sound of dynamic but I'm mostly a road rider so maybe just sticking to a default Sport would work better?

Shame we can't adjust these settings on an app. Come on Bosch, stop locking it down so much and let us play with the parameters!

This thread and this one...

Will give you most of the feedback we can supply.

Generally it's very positive for the Volspeed with a few folk reporting no issues with the latest firmware. I'll sort out an upgrade on my Gen 4 CX shortly.

My Cube Cross Hybrid is now 3 months equiped with the Volspeed 3.0 ; in total 845miles and have had not any error. I restricted the max speed to 21miles. I have used it with drive unit firmware 1.0.3 .0, 1.0.4.0 and now with 1.1.0.0

Thx for the update. Do you know how many miles of that on 1.1.0.0?

So my Volspeed v3 arrived today, the installation on my active line plus was easy peasy didn't even have to remove the crank just remove the cover, fast and simple installation and setup.

Took my first ride just now tonight, about 16km on mostly good roads, wow the different feeling when riding the bike is huge, not having the assist cutoff at 25km/h (which by Bosch standards is more like 23km/h) makes for a much more enjoyable ride, I set mine to 35 which feels about right.

Is there any evidence to prove that a lower max speed, 35kph/21mph makes a difference when trying to avoid error codes with the Volspeed V3, or is it more the fact that someone reported no issues after many miles and just happened to have a lower max speed setting, maybe just coincidence?
When I got my new bike with the gen 4 performance cx motor, apparently the original version software would give error codes if you went anywhere near it with a tuning chip, my motor obviously hadn't read this memo, 900+ miles, Speedbox 3.0 fitted from new, no issues!
There is far too much hearsay, mostly from people who have no experience with the issues they're preaching about.

Darren,

Any opinion is useful as there wasn't much info out there when I was looking. Up to you what you read in to it. I'm happy to err on the side of caution just now and run at 19.9mph limit to avoid a 504 error and when I know it runs fine at that speed I'll try upping it for a while.

It looks like the lack of 504 for sub 20mph riders is probably more luck anything else. I'll be happy to comment back here after I've had time at a higher setting in the future.

Oh and I've not done the CX firmware upgrade yet so appreciate feedback that's been posted already. I'll sort that out in the next few weeks. ?

Everything is speculation right now, I don't think anyone (except for maybe the actual bosch engineers) know exactly why the errors happen but we're all trying to figure it out, nobody is preaching and it's a discussion forum after all. ;)

I've been biding my time, here on the sidelines, I've only done 650kms on my bike, it's upgraded to 1.1.0.0. I've got to say, it's the funest 650 kms I've ever done on a bike. The 25km limit sucks arse. Because of all the feedback here, I'll grab a Volspeed V3 soon. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. I'll post mine...soon hopefully. The performance of my CX motor has surpassed my expectations, so I'm frothing about the chance to de-restrict it...

Hi all, Whyte E150 rider here with the Bosch Gen4. Fitted a Volspeed a few days ago, WOW! Having owned the bike for a little over a month I was a little nervous about messing with the limit and potential 501 issues. However, the difference in the bike just lifting the limit to 20mph is incredible. It just makes for a more pleasant and dynamic overall experience and I am really happy with it. The 15mph limit really isn't fast enough and I frequently exceed that, resulting in a very quick realisation of just how heavy these things are when you are pedalling along trying to keep a good pace. It's a pretty miserable feeling and one I was getting a lot on flat trails and anything other than steep DH. Only 50 or so miles covered currently, no issues and dead easy to fit. I am booked in for the latest update on Monday as my understanding is it doesn't cause any problems with the Volspeed. I agree with Darren66, seems to be lot's of hearsay and not huge amount of evidence on issues, but ask me in 1000 miles!

Although you can put the Volspeed into "workshop" mode to allow software updates, I'd recommend removing it for the update and then refitting.

What's the benefit of that if they have the workshop mode. Some have said there is far too much hearsay, mostly from people who have no experience with the issues they're preaching about.

?? Just teasing ?

I have done 2 updates (1.0.3 -> 1.0.4 -> 1.1.1) all in 'workshop mode'. No issues, no remarks, nothing on my diagnostic reports. In my opinion/experience it's safe. By removing the chip before the update you are for 100% sure Bosch will not detect it.

This is an interesting one re all the comments on warranty I have seen. Talking of hearsay  it reminds me of countless posts around cars being remapped and insurance companies reading forums to catch offenders and insurance assessors walking around with diagnostic equipment to check the map is standard on claimants cars, or prove it delivers the declared 10% bhp increase only. I can't evidence this - but I am nearly 100% sure if my motor had a mechanical failure, i'd get a new one via warranty no problem at all, whether I had run a Volspeed or not. An unusual failure, burned out board or something odd might make them dig deeper, but hey... 5mph matters #twentyisplenty :)

I've had the range read as high as 220 miles and the battery % stays in the low 50's, even with a full battery

If you are running it in mph then the range calc will be off. Best to keep it in kmh if range is important to you.

Hi all. Have a Haibike sduro trekking 7.0 with performance cx gen4.
After 400 km installed volspeed v3, easy installation, driven at 32 km/h for the most part and a little at 35 km/h. Driven about 350 km without problems, but Saturday I got error 510. Error will not go away. So now it has to go to the bike dealer

Been riding my AL+ with Volspeed 3 now for about 200km problem free, it's a pure joy to ride, I upped the limit from 35 to 37 (which is about 35 in reality according to gps and wahoo speed sensor) which is a good sweet spot for me.

Sorry to hear, 510 is internal error so probably not volspeed related just motor problem, if you google it happens for a bunch of folks that didn't do detuning.
