• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

I have previously a speedCHIP V3 (not speedbox) that work verry well without error but latence for speed indication-->go to the bike of my wife
Placed the Volspeed 3 on my bike
3 day to receive from ebiketunning.com
>The female connection tubes are to be reviewed no locking with the connector> insulating sheet required
>First ride, very good feeling, reactive micropressor (reactive speed display), no countdown
>Tested @32km/h 15km-->Ok all mode

Installed Volspeed V3 today to Trek Rail 5 and it was quite straightforward.

Will be intresting to see how Bosch's new powerupgrade firmware will work with Volspeed. Hopefully they will go first on test it.

Hi All, I've still been weighing up whether to get this Volspeed V3, now this software update has been announced, (the upgrade from 75Nm to 85Nm)... so wondering if anyone with the Volspeed has done the upgrade already, and if any issues? Thanks in advance..

Took the first trip with new firmware. The rocks and roots were very slippery as it had been raining the whole day. I could say that the new torque adding effect is maybe not so exceptional. For this ride I had changed the new fork (Cane Creek Helm), new firmware, lowered the handlebar (1 knockblock ring) and the trail was slippery so there was many changes compared to previous rides.

My trip was only 28km long and speed was not much beyond the 25kmh limit. The Volspeed was installed before the update and I didn't remove it for the update. Have to admit that the Volspeed has brought the speed and joyfullness to riding in parts where you would hit the 25kmh "limiter".

No error codes now or in the past. Will report my experiences when I get more kilometers.

Hello did you put the volspeed in workshop mode or not to update?

I did nothing for the Volspeed when I took the bike to the firmware update.

My asumptation: If the Volspeed V3 basic principle is to manipulate wheelspeed signal it should be invisible to the programmer as long as you dont turn it on AND you don't turn the wheel.

Took a second trip yesterday and no problem except I broke my front wheel and had to take asphalt road back to home. Not much over 25kmh again.

No, I still have the Purion controller.

I was about to install Kiox retrofit kit but for my purpose it's a bit incomplete product and that's a different story.

Many thanks for the updates guys. I've seriously considering the Volspeed box myself and I'm very interested to hear how you're getting on with it after the firmware update.

Cheers.

Hi Twallis, out of curiosity, how much battery did you go through for a ride like that? (and how many Wh is your battery?) Cheers
Nearly fully depleted 625 battery I had it in turbo most of the time.which eats battery quicker too. The last couple of miles I did increase to 27mph as I knew I would get home.

Updated to DU 1.1.0.0 (latest 85nm version) and so far no troubles (about 65km) of any kind with the VolSpeed V3. Restricted the speed to 35km/h. Love the new EMTB software handling ! ! !
slightly off topic, but I got my firmware update to the new 1.1.0.0 but lost my EMTB setting, it's now SPORT, I'm gathering this didn't happen to you... was that an option when you upgraded?

Nope.... There are more 1.1.0.0 update possibilities ; my local dealer asked specific which updated I wanted. So, I think you got the update for a 'non mtb' e-bike. Please ask for the 85nm updated with E-MTB modus. Please also ask for a diagnostic report so you can check other parameter like wheel-size etc.
