Unsure if this has anything to do with Rob's actions or not but I have just received word from both Canyon and DHL to say the paperwork issue has been resolved and my bike should hopefully ship out tonight.

Thanks again Rob

I've found the country manager for Canyon UK and have forwarded this thread to them....

@Clansey I hope you can get this sorted asap!

rob did you ask him if he would like to comment on what he has read? as it’s about time someone was held accountable, there are 3 or 4 people on this thread potentially interested in buying a spectral on and 2 of us have had problems. Not good.

You should send them a link to this thread too, then they might just work out damage is being done well beyond this specific order and your relationship with them.

Edit - Crossed posts, I see this has already been done, good call.

If canyon do read the thread, I was very interested in the 8.0 ...and sat at the back of the class watching how they performed.
I am now drawn towards commencal, bulls or thok if I went the online route.
But the sensible side says buy from LBS so still very much on the fence
I doubt i would of been so patient hats off to him for the dogged determination but 4500k bike should be exciting times instead of this less than professional dealings
I really hope the bike is as good as it's few reviews and gets alot of use

I messaged the UK manager and sent the details of the thread to him. He did respond to my message but I'm not sure if it had anything to do with @Clansey having a response from them... Hopefully the thread will serve as feedback for them :)

And about flipping time. Exciting week for you next week. Can’t just be a coincidence the uk manager got involved today. Really pleased for you mate. Any trouble with mine and I’ll ask Rob to contact him I think. Mine is due for dispatch wc 24th. They are showing them online now wc 10th. I asked on live chat today if that meant mine would be shipped earlier but they said I’d have an email if there was a change to the date. Not quite the experience I was expecting so far.

3rd time lucky mate? let’s hope the uk manager keeps lurking and as more people order their bikes has a vested interest is naming sure their shopping experience goes smoothly so they get no more negative feedback.

Whacked a shorter hope stem on mine with collar and top cap (can’t really make it out from the photo)
Was toying with the idea of some renthal bars with a big rise on them (have always ran my bikes with bars with a higher rise as they just feel comfier and give me less back ache) but the stock ones feel fine so far.

Looks good mate. Very matching. Got my Raceface Atlas stem and bars to put on mine when it’s delivered. 35mm. Stock one does seem long by modern standards. Maiden voyage today? Setup tubeless?

nice one, did they knock of the p&p or make any kind of gesture for the mess they had created ?

Nothing as of yet. I am waiting for the bike to be fully delivered before put in my proper formal complaint. They haven't even replied to my one from last week yet.

I'm going to see how mine fits before I change the stem. I had renthal carbon bars on my last bike I might try something new on this. My friend has Raceface Sixc bars at 820mm and they feel lovely. I may ask to try them on mine. I think the 820mm is too wide for him so I'm sure we could work out a deal

i have t gone tubeless mate and i was out for an hour around 6:30 this morning didn’t do much mileage but at the back of our estate is an old disused railway line, perfect for trying to navigate super steep rooty inclines so i’ve had a bit of a play doing that, need a bit more practice nailing the technique but loads of fun, surprised how nimble the bike feels, thought it would be like an oil tanker, also the seat is surprisingly good (thought that would be a bit of a gimmick but being able to plant your arse into the upturned end really helps). When i ordered this bike the piece of kit i wasn’t looking forward to was the dropper (don’t know why, probably a bit of snobbery having always run reverbs before and now ‘lowering’ myself to a mechanically actuated dropper) but the thing is damn good, works like a trooper, no wiggle. Suspension seems spot on, nice beefy tyres just soaks up anything in its path so far so good.
My only mistake is wondering how i’m going to transport this flipping thing anywhere good as there is nothing round here, there’s no way i can keep putting this thing on the roof especially after a hard ride and i’m not a fan of taking the front wheel off and chucking it in the back.
Buying a van is a no go so it looks like i’ll be forking out for a towbar and carrier ffs.
it’s an expensive hobby !

Ha yeah a VERY expensive hobby. I’ve read good reviews about the durability or that dropper. They don’t rate the lever but really rate the dropper. I’ve got a wolftooth 1x lever I can put on but that’ll mean changing the mode switch over to the E6000. More money again though. My last 3 droppers have all been cable operated including a KS Lev and a fox transfer. Find them brilliant. Smooth and reliable. Better than the hydraulic I think.

You’d do your back in lifting that onto a roof surely. Trade the family car in for a nice 5 seater transporter? ?

820mm!!! Wow. Thought my 800mm’s were big. Wonder how much bigger they can go. Wider bars and shorter stem should keep the reach similar. I fancied Hope carbon bars for a while but I’ll stick with my RF for now. Pushing my luck spending anymore.

Any tracking updates?

I have really wide shoulders. I have 800mm on my current bike. Not much difference in the 820mm . It will depend on the fit of the bike really.

No tracking updates yet. Not expecting the next update until tomorrow or maybe Monday

Hi folks, another newbie here, potential spectral on purchaser, my last 2 bikes have both been size large yet when i put my measurements into the canyon size guide it’s telling me i need a medium which i’m a bit wary of. I was hoping a few kind souls might have taken delivery of theirs and would be willing to let a stranger get a leg over....... oooo eeeerrr.
I am 5’7” and when I bought a Canyon Spectral AL 29 three years ago the Canyon frame size configurator recommended a Small frame. The fit was perfect.
I have recently bought a Merida eONE-SIXTY and Merida recommended a Medium frame, which again was a perfect fit.
So from that I guess you can conclude that Canyon’s are built for bigger people and the recommended frame size may be smaller than you are expecting.

How tall are you mate? I’m 5ft 9 and gone for a medium. Used it this weekend? Also what pads come in there Zees? Are they sintered? My last few Shimanos have come with sintered from the box.

5’10 maybe 5’11 and M is fine (i even put a shorter stem on). i’m not sure on the pads i never checked them have to keep an eye on them with wear due to the extra weight.
Ride wise i did a 20 miler but it was only canal paths and a bit of cross country.
Hopefully be getting the tow ball fitted in the next couple of weeks so i can hit the trails again.

I'm getting the Thule upride 599 roof rack along with the fat bike adapter. It's maximum weight is 20kg but should be fine aslong as I don't bomb it on the motorways and be careful on the rough stuff. Can always pull out the battery which should take the bike to 20ish KG

Got a company car that I will be changing in a year or so. Don't wanna pay for the towbar.

Thanks mate. Should be perfect then with my 35mm stem. Just had a blast on a mates Vitus. The whole motor feeling is mental. Haven't tried an ebike on any trails yet.

I rode a few different ones at leisure lakes demo day in Cannock last year. My favourite that day was a Focus Jam2 with the Shimano motor. I've been on my mates Cube a few times with the Bosch.

They feel so planted and confidence inspiring compared.

I would try the original stem length before deciding because weight distribution while climbing steep technical stuff also has to be taken into consideration for ebikes. That can be a lot of fun

It's the climbing im most looking forward to. Always enjoyed good technical climbs. Whites at Afan is a good one. Got to pick a good line for some of it.
