- Export recorded sessions to external formats for Strava/FIT and etc.
- Customizing display schemes (custom XML files, no internal editor, for someone who able to create XML documents using templates)

So far it looks promising.

will I need that en100 transmitter thing to use this with my e8000 motor and e7000 display?

EW-EN100 replaces the display, you can't use both at the same time.
Maybe this should be more specific: from what vadll said, This app is compatible with SC-E7000 display, SC-E6100 display, and EW-EN100 so you're fine. (Your motor is not an 'E8000" - it is a DU-E8000)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that using the terms "E8000" "E7000" etc. by itself isn't specific enough

In next few days I'll post Alpha version onto Google Play. Who wants to be first testers - PM to me your email address (from Google account) and I'll include you to Alpha testers list. App will be not free, but, for Alpha testers price will be minimal allowed: ~ $0.2.

I would love to see an app form the Apple Watch that display the data you usually get on the display.

I run both my bikes with no displays (EN-100 Module) as I dont like having one, but from time to time I want to check something out on a ride, and having to pull out my phone and log on is a pain.

I don't know yet when I'm going to start porting this App for iOS or if I'm going to do it at all...

The App has good tracker features and does not require a constantly turned ON display. So you can put your phone in your pocket and record your entire session with all data that Shimano and external sensors provide.

I run the EW-EN100 too, but I use my Garmin Edge 830 as my main info display instead of my phone. Easy to glance at without letting go of the bars, and my phone stays tucked safely in my pack. I can't imagine using a smartwatch while riding as you have to take your hands off the bar to look at the screen... I have a riding buddy who went with the Garmin watch instead, every other minute he's slowing down just to take his hand off the bar to look at his watch haha

I'd guess if he does iOS, the phone app would be the focus... not everyone who has an iPhone has an Apple Watch - but everyone who has an Apple Watch has an iPhone.

I hardly ever look at the phone, I dont really track rides, and am not interested in any sort of performance metrics, I just like to get out and ride my bike - whilst I still have the battery bar display on the battery, the only useful information I would want to access is the range and battery life remaining, which I can do through the E-Tube Ride app from Shimano (app is designed to turn your phone into a display)

E-TUBE RIDE | Shimano

I know there are a couple of Garming apps that work on certain watches, but not the one I have, but I have an older Apple Watch lying around that could be put to good use.

Anyway @vadII good work with the app to date

E-Tube ride has 5% of ST Ride features. It's useless for me.

I wasn't comparing your app, just saying that in an ideal world I would have an simple apple watch app, at the moment I use the Shimano app for that function when on a ride if needed (it doesn't need the phone display to be on, it can run in the background), I know your app does something completely different and much more information. I was just wondering if its ever on your radar to make such a thing, of if its even possible. I have hear rumours that Shimano is totally overhauling its apps with the launch of the EP8, but I doubt anything as detailed as what you are doing.

Yeah... Shimano needs to overhaul, when you look at everything the stock Mission Control app does for the Specialized Levo owners, it's way more useful than the current Shimano E-Tube.

Who knows maybe someone at Shimano is paying attention to this thread right now haha

Personally I am not fussed, I just stick the bike in trail (in its lowest setting) and ride it, cant even remember the last time I used boost. I have fiddled around with various apps and decided that for me Shimano have it pretty much spot on with the stock options, especially now you can tune eco. Doesn't mean I don't get why people might what more options, and I do agree that the data on offer could be vastly improved, that's why what @vadII is working on now is interesting, as I can see a lot people wanting it.

bummer as I have an Iphone and a garmin 820, but a galaxy tablet. I will wait and see how this app progresses. I have a few buddies with old android phones. I might try one of those without cellular data as an alternative.

The only problem is that data from the motor can be collected from any STEPS displays (E7000, E6100, EN100) other than the most common E8000. This is outrageously stupid on the part of Shimano.

What does it still look like from the support of STEPS display E8000?

hello vadll, I tested the alpha version of ST Ride, it connects well to the bike, and correctly retrieves the data, I did not find the data file on my smartphone, where is it located?
there is a problem, with my garmin edge 530, when the application is in service, it deactivates the sensor coupling between the edge and the bike. to be continued ;)

App doesn't save any data until you press "Record session". Recorded sessions stored in internal database. You can export session into files (GPX,TCX,CSV) at "Statistics"

There should be no disconnections if your phone is always near the bike. The App can not control this, the system itself is engaged in this. Moreover, after the bike loses connection (if you turn off the bluetooth on the phone), you can no longer connect to it until you turn it off / on again.

the garmin disconnects from the bike when I start the app and I no longer have the bike information on the garmin ,. on the smatphone, everything works fine, I have no disconnection.

Only one device can be connected to the bike at same time
ok, but in one case we have the ANT private protocol and in the other the bluetooth, those are two different channels? so you can't use the smartphone with the garmin at the same time, it's less interesting for me.

can ST Ride record watts (human power)
No. Because Shimano does not provide those data. It's possible to calculate it according Assist Level, but it will be not accurate.

Anyway, I can add any parameter that can be calculated using sensors and motor data. If you know how it can be calculated - let me know.

and export this to a tcx or fit file or strava? thx
Export to TCX and GPX files is available including HRM,Cadence,Speed data (all parameters that Strava supports)
