Hey guys and gals
I am currently running the Sram code silver on my Rail and want to improve my stopping power.
Is the Hope 4 a worthwhile investment or should I just change the pads/rotors?

Cheers folks

Have you bled the codes? What is the issue you have with them? They boil on alpine descents but work quite well in the UK if bled well.

Hopes are great, but a lot of money.

No I haven’t, perhaps I should do that first.

I had Guides on my previous bike but could never get on with them so went for Hopes which were night and day better. New bike has Code Silver Stealth and so far I really like them.

The modulation isn't quite as good as Hope but otherwise I'm fairly happy at the moment. Part of this of course is that Silver Stealth and Hope have both reach and bite point adjustment which makes a big difference. I like to be able to adjust so that the back takes emphasis first.

The only issue I have is that the sintered SRAM pads make a lot of noise when wet but are OK dry. But that's an issue with many pads. The ones that came with the Hopes were actually pretty good and you get all 3 types to try but they come at a price.

Hope uses galfer pads, so I’ve bought some galfer purple to try and improve my codes.

Galfer purple helps a bit so do SRAM HS2 rotors but I just don't like Code since the stop power isn't good enough is my experience.
Now I got Maven which I love other don't.
I’ve been looking at Mavens too, but spending almost £5k, on a bike then £900 on wheels, only to buy new brakes … I will really be in the Doghouse :(

It's not really fair to say or add this rotor, or "Clean the pistons" or any other amount of 'things' you can do to improve the brake.
I mean I've heard arguments like that for years over cantis, where it was replace the straddle wire with a set of Odyssey rods, fit new cables yada yada yada, when the truth of the matter was they were just crap at doing the job asked of them.

And its the same with discs. If its not doing what you expect, changing pistons, fitting an endless supply of new pads, getting nascar level brake fluid or any number of possible solutions that probably is going to make little difference.

So if the code silvers arent doing it for you then sell those and buy the Hopes, which are getting good reviews, and i've got 2 sets fitted and can honestly say after 3 decades of a very wide range of braking systems, are by far the best I've yet to come across.
Theres been a large number of reviews putting Trickstuff pretty much on par with the T4 V4's

Plus they come in a whole range of lovely colours :D
