Spectral:ON 630Wh external Battery (BT-E8016) upgrade possible?

So if I understand correctly: the new 630Wh battery just slides in the old holders when you remove just one tab from the battery?

No, you remove one tab in the battery holder.

It seems with the default shock there is enough room for the 630 Wh battery, but if one has upgraded the shock with an external reservoir model the fit may be too tight.

My issue is, is there enough space with the original shock as well if you have a size S frame?

So glad someone tried it in their spectral:On, because the answer I got from Spectral-Belgium was that it was NOT possible in this frame to place the new battery. So if I understand correctly: the new 630Wh battery just slides in the old holders when you remove just one tab from the battery?
Not from the battery, from the lower holder

I can say that after a static test the 504 Wh battery stays absolutely firm in the modified holder, just like the 630 Wh one.
In addition, yesterday I tested it with the 630 Wh battery and the old holder modified with my first ride with them. The ride was a good test, with long very bumpy descents that stressed the coupling between battery and holder. Excellent result! No rattling noise, no vibration and, of course, the confirmation of a 25% range increase with no penalty in terms of driveability!

Salve ragazzi, visto che molti di voi utilizzano la spettrale su volevo chiedere se qualcuno avesse sostituito la corona originale 34 T con altra di dimensioni diverse.

@Shane228mtb check out the entire post (pages 4 and 5).

I even covered how to mod the existing lower mount so you can skip from buying the new mount (if you choose). I also covered which E-Tube software recognizes the new battery and if there were error codes after the install. And finally I gave my personal assessment of the 603wh 630wh battery after a 20.3 mile ride.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Hi BikeTrails, Firstly you are doing an excellent job for many people re the mount mod!
However, I cannot find your posts in page 4 or 5. I'm sure that I read them a few days ago, but they aren't there any longer.

It seems that there are missing (removed??) posts in page 4 (there is a large gap between May 22 to Oct 26).

I converted my Canyon Spectral On today to take the eternal 630 battery and my frame size is the XTRA SMALL so was worried it would not fit.
IT FITS PERFECT. ????????

I also only trimmed down the lug on the mount with a stanly knife to allow for the smaller location hole. Really simple to do. Just sliced at the next spline in the lug.
Had to loose my bottle holder but that’s no issue. EPIC RIDES HERE WE COME.
still takes the old 500 battery too so be riding all day with that in a backpack. ??

IOM, please let us know what is the range imrovement with the larger battery.
I'm thinking of converting too, but before investing on the larger battery it would be helpful to know the real-life range improvements.
Thanks|!

Sh*t. I've no escuses now. I was still apprehensive as I've a size S and the other people who had tried it had bigger frames.
Now I know it's OK on a size XS I'm gonna have to go for it...

That's very encouraging thanks IOM, range stats with mode used, or comparison with the original battery would be great when you have them please. Also, did you manage to find a good place/price to buy from? Thanks for your help, Paul.

Picking it up from the LBS later and intention is to take it out tomorrow keep it in trail mode and drain the battery - will only be a localish ride so wont have crazy elevation, but on my local loop the best I managed about 2 years ago when my current 504wh battery was still relatively new was about 25 miles and 2500ft elevation, though that was in dry conditions and its a proper muddiest round here right now.

When our bikes go out of guarantee, over the next couple of months, I'm going to open up my old battery and get the cells tested to see if I can work out why my range, on flat country lanes and easy trails, has dropped from 60 miles per charge, down to 38. I'm keen to see what you think of the new battery and what range you get. Do you mind sharing how much you paid for it please?

Got it back home now and will attempt the mount surgery later. Weighed one of my 504wh batteries and the new one. 630wh is about 600g heavier, which tally up with what @norrit measured his at.

Its a big old lump for sure!

So five minute job to hack saw, tidy up with a Stanley, and a bit of light sanding, mine is not the neatest attempt though! - fits super tight which is good.
