Hi, my 2021 banana-coloured Kenevo SL is being transformed into a lemon-coloured Kenevo SL...., always kept in a sufficiently dark garage, next to the 2003 Ducati 999 which is red and has remained so for 21 years, the Ken SL thought it best to start a transformation after the two year Specialied warranty on the paintwork had expired, showed it to the dealer sent the photos to Specialized Italia, the response was: we're sorry but the warranty on the paintwork of our bikes is 2 years. We cannot intervene for this specific case. Good or rather bad I'd say, I understand that they are pit bikes and not catwalk bikes but the duration of the paint job so far without being a painter seems to me very little, maybe defective or they use delicate paints considering that there are cars and bikes that are exposed to the elements and don't change colour in years of exposure. If it was a supermarket bike it might be fine, but at this price level I would have expected a little more careful treatment of the customer.
Take my experience to heart and carefully monitor the colour of Specialized frames for at least the first two years, after which your bike will be faded.
The Kenevo SL Expert was launched in 2021 at the exorbitant price of €9,000, after a few months spent in the Covid era at €12,000, only to rise to €7,000...

Is that really an issue?🤔 Still looks fine and no one recognizes if the display is in place?

The bike is used in sunny Italy, for that BTW lemons fit much better than bananas 😉, and not every color remains unaffected by sunlight. 😎 After some years lacquer of some red of Mercedes may start fading and even peeling off, I had a white car turning grey/brownish🥴.
So imho it is not that bad, imagine the banana turned green or spotted brown! 😉

I had the same issue when I used to wash my bikes a the Whistler bike park. Apparently they don't filter their water all that well.

View attachment 148125 View attachment 148126 How does paint affect preference? I am a little disappointed With my 2022 Kenevo bought in march 23.
Autsch!

Aluminium frame? I think corrosion started from the cut out edges in the frame that may have been cut after paint work? It may have started from salt water (winter street use?) or other aggressive medium (bike cleaner?) going & staying under the control unit where chemical reaction is starting then on the open AL edges.

As mentioned before you should contact the dealer and - if I am right - others should check on their AL frames what it looks like under the control unit.

Edit: Checking other parts installed in the AL frame, e.g. power inlet etc, should be checked as well.

Googled a little and found this at Speci US website:
What is NOT covered by your warranty?
Replacement of wear and tear parts, damage from a crash or other accidental damage, and damage from abuse or corrosion are all examples of what is not covered. See the complete warranty policy for a more detailed list.“

It’s called sweat, it’s getting under the paint from the controller and I was told it’s not covered. It’s also why I lol at touch controls on the top tube like DJI. I have had this problem around water bottle mounts on other bikes. You ride alloy it’s an issue.

I ride a bunch of alloy frames and none of them have done that. I’d definitely be taking that back. Or having it stripped and lacquered

In deed, it must be removed and painted as the corrosion process will continue and weaken the wall thickness of the tube.
