The 500 or the 900 ?

It was pandemic time when I purchased it
They only had 500 in stock at the time in the UK so I purchased one, I kept looking on the Web site once I had the bike and would you believe it the 900 come in stock two weeks further on so I got in touch with Decathlon and said I really wanted the 900 they said no problem
Ordered the 900 in the shop and they took the 500 back

Almost the same here.
The 900 felt a little outwith my price range, but owing to the 2 months no quibble return policy of Decathalon Spain, I reckoned to start with the 500.
Do not get me wrong, the 500 is an OK bike, I was starting to love it.
Prob is I am 72 and although the 500 just about works for me now, how is it going to be in a couple of years ??
I returned it in favour of the 70Nm Brose T hoping that might help my riding longevity

Wish me luck :)

Do not get me wrong, the 500 is an OK bike, I was starting to love it.

When trying to shave off some hundreds of euros, you end up with the "Ok-ish" 520 and 500, or with the e-st100 which is a complete disaster.

Do you plan to do some changes? Dropper post, tyres, riser steering bar, gears ?

When trying to shave off some hundreds of euros, you end up with the "Ok-ish" 520 and 500, or with the e-st100 which is a complete disaster.

Do you plan to do some changes? Dropper post, tyres, riser steering bar, gears ?
Only planned changes are one of those Suntour ncx or whatever suspension posts with a more comfortable saddle and a 38t chainring.
No doubt after the first few rides there will be more !

Been a couple of weeks now since I picked op the 900. Decathalon accepted the return of the 500 with barely a look and the money was refunded to my account the same day. Excellent service !
The only Mods I have done so far really are to replace the normal head to a raised version to suit my somewhat elderly situation.
The second being the fitting of the excellent Suntour NCX saddle suspension device.
My riding style although not Dick Danger ( or at my time of life, not even Danger Dick these days) is still quite sporty.
Did 28k yesterday over some rugged terrain and the suspension unit performed beautifully.

Best money spent so far !!

Trying to source a 38T Chainring now.

At it again !!!

This is sure to pixx off the purists !!
Fitted similar to my old Muddy Fox over 35 years ago and found the great when returning from a pretty heavy ride out.

Real relaxing just to cruise along in the breeze, with an almost straight back when the traffic on the Road or Cycle Path is quiet.
If I like them, then they remain. If not, it is only a case of 2 Allen Bolts !!

End Plugs not yet fitted until trial period is over.

Prob go for a better set of handgrips as well. Had to butcher the originals.

This is a picture of the bike with rain fenders installed.
I had to drill a 5mm hole in the front fork, then tapped M6 in it.

In the back there was the possibility to mount the fender support directly.

This is the reference to the fenders. the normal size.

They are narrower than the 27.5-2.8 tires, but as these tires are "bombed", the fenders keep away 90% of the rain.

It was the only model that was:
-quick click remove
-budget
-good close following of the tire
-not too much destroying the looks, no side supports etc.

Have you considered a tie on front mudguard?
I have had a Zefal fitted for over 2 years now and it's been absolutely perfect. Very easy to fit. Would recommend :)
See the back spray/mud on my frame, which was from a very wet and muddy trail this weekend.
When I didn't have the mudguard fitted I found a lot of the spray was coming up onto my face. Now it doesn't.

Still Ok, still as new.

The mounting is a metal bracket with one bolt.
At the back there is already a hole, in the front you will have to drill/tap a hole

In the front did you full drilled thru the middle triangle? (it seems no so thick)

I want to give credit to the contributor of this post.

In terms of lighting for electric bikes, here's the information:

FRONT 6V 1.1A (6.6W)

BACK 6V 0.1A (0.6W)

The best lighting options are:

FRONT: Lezyne E65 (210 Lumens - be careful not to get the "Pro" version) - 4.5W

BACK: LITEMOVE TS-RK - 0.5W

To achieve this, you'll need to purchase a Brose cable from Decathlon.

Just installed the decathlon cable for a fork mount light at the front. Waiting for a clamp for the crown as don't want to drill.

Is this the light for the rear?

Since a few weeks, the motor assembly started making a bit more noise.
When manually turning the pedals, I can feel it's not as smooth as used to be.

I guess there are belt/bearing problems.

Is this something I can fix myself?
How is Decthlon service and Price?
Are there shops specialized in this?

If it's a serious motor problem, then These guys are the Brose experts.

This will give you an idea what it takes to replace the belt drive

The bike doesn't go ON anymore.
When opening the case, it's full of mud, the connectors are rotten agian.
By trying to disconnect, the power connector broke, pins broken off...

So we go to Decathlon. The message is:
*Connector broken on both sides, please look+repair.
*Motor makes noise, please make price for replacement of bearings+belt.

After a week there is a guy phoning me with a strange story, trying to sound technical.
Price for repair = 850 euro for new Motor + 50ish for new wiring.

So I go there, another guy tells another starnge story about short circuits, grease, circuits burned in the motor,...
But when I ask which measurements he made, and to show me where exactly it is burned, seems they didn't even open the motor, and didn't even measure something.
I told him what dielectric gel is, so at least he learnt something this year.

Avoid those guys at all cost. They are trained to fix bolts, know the catalogue and adjust derailleurs.
