I too have purchased one of the 10 year specials (the peoples champ) My first Ebike too

Original plan was a frame up build next year but the whole bike with the ID frame was cheaper than a frame only so they got me and I hastily placed an order last week, I think its dispatching soon, on the site dispatch time has changed from 3 weeks to 4 weeks........

Got plenty of nice bits to transfer over from other bikes and also ordered an Intend flash fork, so here go's

Hello,

I have a polite question to ask: could someone measure the eye-to-eye of the bashguard mounting points, like shown in red in the picture below please? Thank you.

Dont know if this is anyone on here, but I would also be pretty unimpressed.
Slight damage is unfortunate.
Peeling protection is sloppy.
Mismatched colours are unacceptable.
Hopefully he will get it sorted.

WARNING - contains Geordie accent 😆

Ouch mate, what a shocker. As you said yourself, get Pole involved and see how this could be rectified. Fingers crossed, on both hands!!!

Please keep us informed as this is no doubt a very good test on how the Pole aftersales works.

Ps. Geordie accent - this brings me back to my time in the UK

Im still not sure im reading the website correctly as it doesn't seem logical. Its the current frame with the doodah build into the top tube.

I would prefer the 'what we ride' spec, plus being a bigger saving, but it only comes in gold & I don't like gold!

The peoples champ spec'ed as below coming in at 5,350e (plus 20% vat) 6420e + 6% uk import = approx £5900

Frame: Voima ID Complete (K1 or K2 or K3, Raw clear, no protective films)
Battery Cover Color: Storm Grey
Axles: Standard Axles
Drive-unit: Bosch 750Wh Performance Line CX
Fork: RockShox ZEB Select 190
Rear Shock: RockShox SuperDeluxe Ultimate Air MY23
Headset: Cane Creek 40-series
Drivetrain: SRAM GX 12s, RaceFace Aeffect R 170mm
Brakes: SRAM Code R 220/200mm
Wheelset: Mavic Deemax 29″
Handlebar and Stem: RaceFace Chester 35 40mm 780mm
Seat Post: CrankBrothers Highline 3 34.9mm 125 / 170mm
Saddle: SDG Bel-Air
Tires: DD Maxxis Assegai 2.5 & Minion DHR II 2.4

There isnt much I would change here really, once ive fitted my fox40, reserve mullet wheels & saint brakes from my existing bike.
Maybe add race axles, the frame slider & ideally 165mm cranks rather than 170mm.
Replace the sram gears with linkglide & a better shock at a later date.

The frame only option is 5,596e (plus 20% vat) 6716e + 6% uk import = approx £6210
£310 more.

A full build similar to the 10-year bike is 6491e (plus 20% vat) 7790e + 6% uk import = £7206
Basically saving around £1300

Rambling post, just trying to justify the man maths outloud 😆
why don't you ask Chris White if ifs possible to have the what we ride speck in raw colour?

I've already ordered now. The only thing I would have liked was the hbo on the shock and the 165mm cranks. Plus the race axles which I've ordered separately.
I would have still swapped out pretty much all the other bits as originally planned, axs, brakes, wheels, fork etc.

That's problem with the coloured options, there can literally be hundreds of slightly different shades as it's not a colour it's a chemical reaction, and unless all the components are done in the same vat at the same time, there will be variation.

Without a doubt a material defect in workmanship (my Storm Gray PPF application was perfect and held up to lots of abuse). Should not have left the factory that way. Might be worth for Pole to provide a partial refund than send the bike back, as the bike would functionally perform the same.

I'm just about to ride. But will get the measurement for you later on.

That said. What the hell is the point of this bash guard? the motor case and PE slider are lower than the chainring anyway. So that is what hits first. I didn't bother with that bash guard and after 1300km have not once wished for it.

Frankly, I believe that people confuse large-scale industrialization and artisanal manufacturing... the charm is precisely present and makes them unique pieces!

These differences in color will never dissuade me from buying a Pole Voima..

There is optical difference too, when two parts are not equally "flat" (surfice is finer than another), they will reflect light differently - different wave lengths have different color, so even though the actual color would be the exact same, those parts will appear like different color.
I didn't look in to my frame in such detail before now, even though mine is raw, there is definitely difference between parts with finer machining surface and the parts of art (CNC porn...).

Linkage for 230x65mm shock/150mm rear travel available. No word on any geo changes yet.

Unsure of the point of this when the bike pedals so well at 190mm travel.

Edit: thought of a benefit. Makes the shock sellable 😂

Exactly! It makes no sense to reduce the travel. It’s great as is, and reducing travel will just ruin it.

For an, especially short leg, rider, with minor mtb experience, shorter travel increases maneuverability, so from that point of view this makes sense. Considering how much You loose money in every occasion You change the bike - this is far more affordable - but I would see rather upgrade from 150 -> 190 than other way around.

Quantify better?
Lighter for a start. Voima Is a heavy frame engineered to take dh forces. 150mm frames are not subject to the same service therefore can be engineered lighter.

Secondly the frame is optimized around 190mm travel, Not 150mm. The kinematics will not have been purposefully optomised for 150mm travel. Therefore there will be compromise to make it work.

Chain Stay is too long, frame is too slack or bb too high. Either way it's bandaid on an axe wound.

In summary, too heavy, compromised geo and kinematics.

With that said. Voima is fantastic for its intended purpose. But If I decide to go less travel it will be a lighter optomised geo emtb.

I get what you're saying about the possibility of the suspension not being optimised but that's really an unknown until it's either ridden and/or when @leo_kokkonen wants to clarify.

With a lesser travel fork the head angle is steepened and with the linkage and smaller shock the BB drop is increased. These two things combined I think could end up with quite an agile bike that feels more 'in' the bike than a standard Voima/Vikkela.

The weight is almost irrelevant imo. My Levo was 3kg lighter than my Voima but the Voima feels more agile and lighter on the trail. All the FF bikes are within about 5kgs (lightest to heaviest from what I've seen) and it's the geo that's the most important in making them feel spritely more than anything.

I'm semi curious about the trail link on my Vikkela...not so much on the Voima though. I do think it needs a price adjustment though.

My Vioma is missing the cable for the Kiox 300 display (I have the wireless mini remote)…anyone know what It is and where I can order one?

I sent an email to Pole, but I’m hoping to find one in the US.

Ask trek dealer stores in your area. They could have one.
Also you are not missing much, it’s pretty useless tbh, i regret ordering mine with voima.

The Voima is a playful bike for 190/190. But I’ve gone to an Orbea Wild 170/160 it’s on a whole different level of playful. Most fun I’ve had on a bike yet.
Maybe the 170/160 Voima will be similar 🤷‍♂️
