Pole EMTB is in the making.

Hi all.

I just watched an interview with Leo Kokkonen. He confirmed that they have been designing an EMTB. Because of the current coronavirus situation, the development has pretty much grinded down to a halt, temporarily. Pole has applied for patents. There will be a what Leo described as "a simple and well-working, long travel suspension". The frame will be CNC-machined. Battery size will be "as large as they can fit in".

I'll be eagerly awaiting. I still have both of my kidneys...

Pole make beautiful bikes, but they are too long for my tastes/terrain and nightmare stories about delayed deliveries seem to be pretty commonplace so I will not be first in this particular queue!

Look forward to seeing what they come up with, but without dealer back up I'd be hesitant to shell out thousands of dollars on the first generation at least.

I have seen prototype alive, what a monster! It's like a ultimate machine, liked a lot how it looks.
And it's loooooong. :D

Leo Kokkonen again appeared in an interview, the 1st part was mostly about his youth and the beginnings of Pole. The second part will be more about current time and will give info about the new eMTB. That episode will be out in the next few days. I'll try to write something after I listen to it.

Pole EMTB will have long suspension, 190/190 mm, new not similar rear suspension to previous Pole designs. Rear suspension design is new and patented. RS Zeb fork with thick 1.8" steerer tube planned. No dual crown forks planned.

The bike design will be unique, designed from the start as an EMTB, not a traditional MTB. Leo says the bike can do anything between trail ride/exploring and enduro like rides.

Bike will have 29" wheel size. Brose motor with 725 Wh battery. Leo promises huge range and has been testing it for some time.

I've had 3 Pole bikes, never had an issue with any of them. Does this perception of Pole exist because of that one pinkbike incident? I'm lost.

There have been a handful of Pole bikes that have had their frames broken, but the same bikes have been blasted to every forum, often more than once.

Ya id like to hear more on the no bb drop thing too. Could be a good mullet option. No worries on making the seat angle too slack. Does it have that 1.8 headtube?

The geometry follows most likely the same train of thought as the revised Evolink 1.4.

"The consequence of the increase in BB height is a bike that is more responsive to rider input and will help ease the bike into bunny hops or manuals with less effort."

In short, the length and head angle gives all the stability one could ask for while the zero BB drop increases maneuverability.

Bloody Fantastic bit of kit. BUT ! That Brose motor needs a good warranty unlike Specialised Pole won’t have the back up eg. a dealer with spare motors or batteries to change with in a day I think not .

Being in the U.S. we do not have as much access to many of the Ebikes that are overseas, but this is one that we are supposed to be able to obtain and I was very interested even with the crazy slack and nearly 4" longer wheelbase than most any of the other Ebikes out there. I have owned 10 in the last couple of years and was thinking maybe I'd see what this would do since I still have a couple of trail oriented Ebikes and would entertain a more downhill oriented bike. WELL,,,,, this is where I began and after a week of trying to reach POLE, with zero response, I may just throw this thought away. After all, I dont thing Pole will have much support in the States and if this is the kind of customer support I can expect, I am not impressed. I sent 3 emails to their sales department and once I saw I was getting zero response, decided to send an email to the technical department and as of today, still no reply. I would think if they want to get this Voima off and running and have some deposits on frames or bikes they would be looking to show how good their customer service is. I have checked my junk mail and there is nothing there either. I guess it is possible that they are too busy trying to get the bikes built than to take care of customers, or maybe they're all on holiday. Maybe the folks at Pole will see this post somehow and get on their sales department's azz to reply to potential buyers. If I get any replies, I will update this post. Hopefully this is some kind of over sight, or maybe they should check their junk mail for my questions!

Probably because specislized is huge and can look after all the brose motors that shit the bed and it won't kill their product line. Pole has a problem with their new e machine and now theyre fixing that to keep customers happy at the same time dealing with brose motors that die. That could kill their whole e program. Put bosch in it and it has way less issues to deal with and a global support network, that have been stocked with parts needed thus far, that can look after any motor issue through any lbs. I dont know why every bike company wouldnt want that level of seperation to just deal with their own headaches. Why take on a motor thats proven to be a headache. Not just brose either

I signed up here to make this reply. I have contacted Pole with several questions using the email contact on their website. They have answered every question in detail within 48 hours. I don’t know why my experience has been so good while others have have the opposite but they have been better than any other.
They use an air shock and say they won’t swap parts. My read on their leverage curves make the bike look like it would be awesome with a fine coil shock.

does anyone have a comment about using a coil shock on this bike?
