Trail trail where's the trail ?! Making a commitment to a new trail can be hair raising at the least especially in the mountains. I'm sure everyone has discovered a new trail to see " where this goes " only to find out it gets worse and worse the farther in you get in. Pretty soon the bum is quivering and you look back and wonder why you even started out on this.Thinking if you should turn around or continue on. Only to find out yep you should have... It's the narrow cliff hangers that get me going. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ No pics of the really dangerous spots I was too busy praying and sh*ting my pants ! ๐Ÿ’ฉ

Haha perfect ! I came around a bend and just about hit one of those sitting down eating berries right in the middle of the trail. I was as surprised as he was and we both spun around and took off !!
Worse we get are Highland cows but mainly on remote single track roads where they roam about freely . Massive horns just need to be wary if they have calves especially. These two were definitely giving me the eyeball. Just had to wait for the ones on bridge.

The hiking trails aren't usually the killers, it's getting off onto the deer trails that get me into trouble. Start out ok and then you notice there are absolutely No other bike tracks... ๐Ÿ˜Ž
I've put a PLB , survival bag and wee first aid kit in my rucksack all small and light to carry. Had a fast fall the other week in a remote area it was a wake up call I thought.

I had a really good day today as usual with @The Hodge around his local patch Pundershaw and as he mentioned the Sandstone Way and the Pennine Way.
Rode some excellent single track through the fringes of Kielder Forest. Very wet in places places, muddy and boggy too. The drop down Shitlington Crag was the highlight of the ride for me. Itโ€™s steeper that the pics show on Neilโ€™s post and gnarly to say the least.
Was good to fettle me mates bike and pleased heโ€™s pleased with the results regarding suspension set up.
A few pics of Neil negotiating the drop from the Crag. IMG_8746.jpeg IMG_8749.jpeg IMG_8748.jpeg IMG_8750.jpeg IMG_8751.jpeg IMG_8747.jpeg
Nice drop of the black stuff to finish off a great day on the โ€œGreat Whyteโ€
Cheers budโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ

Yesterday I decided to do a particular off-piste trail in the opposite direction. One steep climb has a root in the middle of the trail and I found that it was best if I went to the left of it. As I was descending and thinking to myself how different everything looks, I recognised the root and went left as usual.

Oh dear, it should have been the other left! :giggle: My left grip caught on a tree and I was ejected right, onto a pile of mud and leaves (lucky me, it could have been a stump). :ROFLMAO:

Every day is a learning day!

Went on a 17 mile ride across Kingley Vale east to West (opposite direction to usual).

Kingley Vale - Woodland Trust

Really dull day but needed the exercise. No frost yet so the beech trees are slowly shedding their leaves creating a treacherous leaf and mud mulch underneath. The High Roller 3's didn't clog up even in deep mud, was impressed.

Very dull day so a very dull pic :(

A nice 36 mile ride with 3,200 ft of climbing and still had 40% battery left

Were you on the Trans Pennine Trail?
A group of us came down a good few years ago from the North East ( long before ebikes were a thing)..stayed in Glossop but then drove to Langsett Res.to start/end the ride ..doing a huge 50+ mile loop to then drive home ..arriving back in the early hours.
It's still fondly remembered by all who were there as one of the best group rides we have ever done ..and I have a lasting image of us hurtling down Mickledon Edge after Cutgate .. with the dust kicking up from tyres of the riders in front of me ..and a glorious sunset to the left ..magical โœจ๏ธ
I'll take that to my grave ( but hopefully not for a good few years yet ๐Ÿ˜‚).

Yep, I have a 36 miles loop from my home, onto the TPT to langsett/cut gate followed by wharncliffe then back onto the TPT. Iโ€™ve not done the full cut gate ladybower in year and definitely need to do it again so much fun.
