One from Tuesday, can't fault this time of year. In the distance, you can see my mate on his from the future Zerode gearbox bike, sweating up the climb about five minutes after I arrived.

First ascent of a real mountain (Drum 2526 ft). Been on the radar for quite a while and it was great, really enjoyed it, pretty steep in parts but nothing too technical. Views from the top were next level. Would defiantly go back. Loads of info on google if you're interested. Went on a Monday so fairly quiet, few other mtb's and inevitable miserable walkers ;)

Got out before got silly hot and humid. Climbed Chalkpit Lane and was going to go down again a bit quickish but decided against because didn’t have any armour on (it's chalk with embedded broken flint which can tear flesh really easy). Looks level but it's far from.

Took an easy route but the brambles got me because too hot to wear a long sleeve shirt.

Decisions, decisions ...

Took the easy route home on part of the West Sussex Literary Trail because had run out of water.

I’m with you on the miserable walkers theme…….we were out in the Western lakes last Wednesday, most walkers ok we gave them right of way and always thanked them if they gave way to us the right of way. But the hard core walkers with back packs the size of a small shop, loads of layers and poles and a face with the look of someone who’d found a sixpence and lost a tenner, them buggers I ask myself if you’re that effing miserable in such a beautiful place why bother going out at all……..canny rant 😂😂

Don't ask yourself, ask them!
Be all cheerful and say something like "Good morning! Isn't it absolutely beautiful up here, doesn't it make you feel glad to be alive!" Followed by "What's wrong?" :)

An excess of politeness and bonhomie nearly always puts a spoke in someone's miserable attitude.
Well, it does to me at least!

I wish I had a bloody pound for every walker that I’d spoke to and been grunted, scowled at and ignored .
We always greet people we meet on the trails in a pleasant and whole heartedly friendly way……it’s the hard core t—-ts that think they own the hills that piss me off
Sorry Steve unlike you I’m not destined to go to heaven 😂😂

I always politely say "Thank-you" when passing polite walkers.

But if I have to stop and even walk past if they don't get themselves out of the way or their dogs under control, then I sarcastically say "Thank-you" which is hopefully taken in the spirit in which it is rendered. 😉

A few weeks ago…”I’ve Been Hiking For 25 years!!! “, they lectured me.

WOW 😮, That’s amazing. I said. You must be tired. 😴

Holy S**t, they thought they were gods gift to nature. 🙄 🤦‍♂️
My response would have started...

25 years? Really? Almost as long as I've been riding mountain bikes in the hills! Now f**k off!

OH! I wanted to say that! I really did, it was killing me inside. But I want to mend the divide between hikers and MTB’ers…just kidding 😉…they get in my way all the time. 🙄

We didn’t take part in the event, that was last weekend, we just went and rode some of the trails today as they’re not far from us. 7 stages in total 😀
All the stage signs said, no riding these trail outside of the event, don't upload to the internet lol.

Only a few of the stages are on private land, the others aren’t and are fine to ride all year round. However, some of these are in grouse territory so have to be avoided in shooting season 👍🏽

As above.. we rode a good few of the stages a week after the event last year ..
Couldn't make today's ride down in N.Yorks with a few of the lads ..but managed to get out late afternoon from my door and headed over the moor to the Pundershaw area of Kielder Forest ..on some b/ways & tracks which are only ridden ( in the main ) by locals ..with it being "summer" some good trails are hidden by the height of the grass & bracken so it's a bit of a leap of faith riding them blind ..but only two tumbles ..both with a soft landing 😁

Slight difference in the figures as I forgot to start the recording until after the first big climb..so the distance covered would be +1mile and the ascent the same as the descent ..

Maybe it’s the camera angle …but how wide are your bars?

The left/right position of the brake levers gives me nightmares 😱😉
780mm bars - the trees are slightly offset and maybe a couple of cm clearance so it need a fast wiggle!
