After my pootle on the Lakeside Way midweek ..back up to Kielder again on the rougher stuff for a few hours this afternoon after finishing the domestic duties my good lady had set out ( err a bit of housework & gardening ..nowt spicy 😉) .
An absolutely glorious afternoon with the trails dry & ( dare I say it ..dusty ) ..a complete opposite to the last time I visited Deadwater earlier in the month when I could hardly see two yards / metres in front of me ..
Full Deadwater / part Osprey Inc Osprey Chick & Skydive on The Lonesome Pine Trail..

Next up a bit of an adventure this coming Wednesday with @The EMF over in The Western Lakes on a route in and around Loweswater roughly described to me by my Doctor ( pretty cool that he patches me up then sends me out to potentially hurt myself again 😀) ..and which myself and Wayne have managed to scrabble together ..
Not sure what to expect other than I'm told the scenery is fantastic ..fingers crossed .. 1000007644.jpg 1000007645.jpg

Back from vacation and decided on a short 1 hour ride on our trail network. Slight drizzle …went roots and rocks.

So I started at this drop on “Bullet Tooth Tony”.

…and then my front tire slipped on that wet root.

IMG_8041.jpeg

The I flew into, and hugged that log…chest first. The knot went under my armpit and my chin massaged the bark on top. “I can’t breathe!” For a few moments. What a great start …anyways, on with the ride.

Checked out a trail I’ve been resurrecting for the past 4 months.

This feature makes a hard left down into a ravine/creek.

Completed this 25’ long bridge a few months back.

Tore down the old jump and constructed a new one.

Next feature to build over this root system.

Close call on one of my bridges. Still passable.

Rode home to let the pectoral muscles heal. And we really needed this rain. ☔

Great ride out yesterday in the Western Lakes that took in beautiful scenery surrounding Loweswater with @The Hodge and @drewbirks IMG_8301.jpeg IMG_8302.jpeg
This ride had a bit of everything quiet tarmac roads, fast 2 ply, single track and super fast grassy descents. Nothing technical but a throughly enjoyable ride that could be ridden throughout the year. IMG_8309.jpeg IMG_8308.jpeg IMG_8303.jpeg
The scenery was stunning in every direction with views over to the Solway and into deep valleys not forgetting Loweswater itself small but beautifully formed. All the better for being bathed in glorious July Sunshine.

The boys on various parts of the trails.

We did a double loop starting at Maggies Bridge car park which was Chaka block at 09.50 which was something of a surprise! Great day out, I love my Great Whyte ……..🤣 IMG_8313.png
We did a “there and back” traversing along Black Cragg with some stunning views into the valley bottom (not shown) and also rode the shorter loop both ways so a total of 22 miles and 2500ft of climbing.

Great write up Wayne ..not much more to add except to thank my Doctor ( gp) for suggesting the route ..otherwise we most probably would never have ridden it ..but its one that will definitely be ridden again .
Of course I'm going to be adding some pics..sorry for any duplications but the riders are obviously Drew & Wayne ..😁
*very strange..my pics have tagged themselves onto the end of Wayne's instead of after my write up ..so click to expand above ( if you want to view them 😉)

Why are images compressed so much on here ! That last photo was only 4.5MB on device but compressed to a shocking 150+KB in this forum ?

Can see others have there uploads at a much higher rate, Curious!
