The tire questions is tricky. The conditions vary so much in winter that I would say tire pressures are more important. My 2.6” front Piikkisika measures 2.4” in real life and I`m ok with that. Wouldn`t go under. Rear is 2.6” for real. But I`m thinking puttting inserts to these again because it`s tricy to get pressures as low as possible, but not too low when there`s still exposed roots and rocks, and in other hand if pressures are too high the ride is rough after front suspension stiffence up because of low temps 😀. I had inserts on my old Levo and previous Piikkisika tires and traction was amazing, I rode really low presssures.
Light is this Lupine Lighting Systems - E-Bike lights • SL F and I have helmet light of course with it.
Yes tires is tricky som prefer thinner since they go through the snow if it is powder snow since wider can float on top of the snow. I'm mostly on hard snow and ice got Suomi 2.6 f/b with 10/15 psi.
Supernova mini pro and Outbound lighting Trail EVO.
All working good enough for me.

My Moterra SL featuring the appropriate amount of mud. Might clean something other than the stanchions and drivetrain this year if it's lucky, who knows!

All right, sorry chaps. You both clearly have larger phallus, ahem, more mud, than me. I admit it 😂. Sorry I don't get as muddy as you guys. I'm in the UK too, I just have very flexible riding days so avoid a lot of the slop in favour of sweet grippy mud! I just meant some mud rather than none. I don't get why people wash every ride.

Thanks for gatekeeping my mud levels, oh glorious forum elitists. I bow down to thine superior sloppage, and worship thy most muddy of bicycles, oh great and powerful mud warriors! Soldier on in my stead, for mine tires doth surely lack grip. 🙏

Last time I rode up here was on a Gary Fisher Hookooekoo , probably folk on here not born then late 80s or early 90s. Before droppers, vbrakes and mobile phones. Met six folk on my way back , tour group with a guide pushing analogue bikes up a steep bit . Not sure they would have made it as very windy further on but I will never know. You can get up the one with the cliffs easily from the other side Sgur Gaoith . 21 mls 2000ft .

I wash after every ride Stihldog always a bath in our house. I had plenty Black Dives when I was a Fisherman. Record was 26 days in one trip.
Hahaha …I meant my BIKE!!!!

Had to use the natural steams for bathing for our sailing vacations to Desolation Sound (West Coast BC). Seafood breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, for weeks.

Out last night. This is the memorial to the Shoreham airshow crash. Hard to see but the memorial is on the bank of the river Adur & the semi circle of lights on the other side lines up when you look through the arch. 11 lights, one for each victim.

Mud!
Focus mud_1600_1200.jpg

My previous bike, a Focus Jam2. I had already stopped and scraped some mud off and came across two walkers coming the other way. I asked what the mud was like and they said that it hadn't bothered them. So instead of turning around I pressd on. The mud was worse. The motor would have kept going, but I was concerned that the mud would strip the paint from the frame. So I stopped and used sticks to drag the clay mud from the frame. 100 yards further on I had to do it again. I was OK after that.
