Well as we fly out to the Cook Islands on Sunday for a month away from our deep freeze I feel somewhat guilty finding an excuse not to take up our Aussi friends offer for a visit to Australia but partly their fault sharing pics of what crawls through their yard
Not much sympathy if your away to Cook Islands , I'm afraid even less if it's for a month . Enjoy your selves.

I don’t know what the secret would be?
There’s a number of factors. Shouting could help, walk in groups, a dog companion, avoidance, waving a bag or branch, awareness, behaving like a predator or hunter, warning noise's (I ride with a jingle bell on my bar), etc.

Not the biggest guy I’ve encountered …but he was on a mission.

I’ve had a few face-to-face encounters during trail maintenance (surprise 😳) and had my backpack and iPhone stolen by a bear.. Took a few hours to find.

At times they can be territorial (breeding season) and definitely give way for mama and cubs.(had a fake charge once). But they wander through our neighborhood all the time in search of food. It’s the Cougars I worry about.

Out on the Marin with the Bafang BBS01 Motor. And OMG. Do I miss my Merida. It's like I've gone back 2 years in ability. Torque sensors are so important when you are climbing.

And th motor hangs so far down. Just kept getting hooked up in the really technical sections. So used to being able to roll off anything. And when climbing. I so miss being able to stamp on the pedals and get that front wheel up and over anything, then bunny hop the rear up.

Literally night and day difference. Anyway. Hopefully the Amflow isn't too far away.

Some pics.

Yeah nah. 800mm bars are just not going to get through here.

One of the guys I ride with showed this ^^^ photo to his grand-daughter and she came up with this "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" design for a bike. I told him to keep an eye on that kid ......... :ROFLMAO:

With overnight rain, all my riding mates decided it was too wet to ride. It was a little wet on the trail in places. But the bike didn't get too muddy. Just a little where the chainstay meets the bottom bracket.

My only thought was the blokes in the UK would have a huge belly laugh over how soft they were being. ;)

Overall I enjoyed the ride. Just wish it was on a better EMTB.

Re bears I heard that some people put a anti-bear tag on the stem of their bikes! 😎

Being new to tubeless, I was not expecting to be burping and farting so much… View attachment 154618

You need to adjust valve position and more glitter!

What pressure was in that Dan?
I was running a "recommended" 25psi rear and 23psi front.
I'm now running 27psi rear and 25 front and it's really good - not so squirrely and no more burping (that I am aware of).
I'm about 95kg, so added to the bike weight, all up it's a lot for the tyres to deal with on rooty and rocky trails - although I suspect this happened on a tight berm.

Pal sent me this, 11 years ago apparently. I still have that bike!

Edit to add, that's a 26" carbon hardtail with a 100mm Rockshox Reba, 3 by drivetrain & no dropper. I built it from the frame up & it was pretty much on the money at the time!

I know, not an EMTB but nice commuting addition to my bike collection.

Even without suspension, the combination of a carbon fork, wide tires, and the patented Orbea Diamond Glide frame design absorbs bumps surprisingly well, keeping the ride smooth and controlled. Still ordered the Redshift Shockstop suspension seatpost to alleviate pain in my lower back.
The Shimano EP6 motor delivers serious power for such bike, and with the top speed bumped up to 45 km/h, it’s an absolute blast on city streets!

I present to you: Orbea Diem

View attachment 154783 Nice looking bike .My neighbours mother has something similar I get asked to sort punctures etc. It's a strange bike to work on luckily she has a tool kit that came with it. Hopefully nothing seriously goes wrong with hers no local bike shops near us.

Do you prefer wide or narrow tires on snow and which light do you have?
The tire questions is tricky. The conditions vary so much in winter that I would say tire pressures are more important. My 2.6” front Piikkisika measures 2.4” in real life and I`m ok with that. Wouldn`t go under. Rear is 2.6” for real. But I`m thinking puttting inserts to these again because it`s tricy to get pressures as low as possible, but not too low when there`s still exposed roots and rocks, and in other hand if pressures are too high the ride is rough after front suspension stiffence up because of low temps 😀. I had inserts on my old Levo and previous Piikkisika tires and traction was amazing, I rode really low presssures.
Light is this Lupine Lighting Systems - E-Bike lights • SL F and I have helmet light of course with it.
