Yeah the only full bikes I've bought are my ebike and voodoo bizango which I subsequently upgraded heavily
Looks like it would have been safer to ride through the streamsLazy trails day ... and endless crap bridges ..
This was was built in a very environmentally conscious way .. rolling branches sitting on logs .. Indiana Jones would have been proud.

Just looked inadequate ... and felt worse....

This one won the award for Simplicity ..

Yup .. normally I'd just go for it .. but the drop ins, exits, depth, width are all not represented well in the pics ..Looks like it would have been safer to ride through the streams
That's why I always take my PacraftYup .. normally I'd just go for it .. but the drop ins, exits, depth, width are all not represented well in the pics ..
The Simplistic one you could probably have popped over with a decent run in, but the run in was slop, so wasn't going to happen :

90% of the rest were just in and outs ..

Found a nice typical French Road side bike repair centre on the way back ...

I had to search for that .. plus add in Mountain bike .. so many results and images - I now feel inept not having one !That's why I always take my Pacraft
Once again blessed with weather.A ride out of Kirk Yetholm yesterday with @Richywalker64 & Alan Walkea turned into more than a little bit of a disaster when the GPS mapping went totally tits up on both mine & Richys phone ( OS mapping ) ..might have had something to do with the atmospherics but at times we were wandering around like Gorillas in the mist ..
I got us off to the wrong start when shortly into the ride having taken the " upper level" choice on the Pennine Way we took a right turn upon reaching the border Ridge after skirting around Green Humbleton to head towards Whitelaw ..even though the finger post for the PW was pointing left ??..
Look at the map ..which way would you have turned ?
View attachment 110679
..we were now in my mind heading the wrong way only the little blue GPS dot was taking us where we wanted to go on the map which was along Steer Rig towards Black Hag then on a drop down on a little used track initially towards Auchope which turned into a very slippery / muddy slop fest courtesy of the farmers tractor the closer you got to the bottom ..onwards towards Sourhope where the climb out was even muddier and traction a real problem ..heading towards the junction of tracks under Blackdean Curr..
View attachment 110680 Right turn at the junction to follow the track all the way back to the Lower Pennine Way option then back to the start ..but no..this is where our GPS took a real wobbler and we ended up at the trig point on top of The Curr..where we decided to follow the fence line down to the valley below ..Alan & myself deemed this to be unrideable after each having an "off " and chose to walk the bikes down ..Richy showing a Zen-like quality seemed to glide over every divot and rode the lot ..
Upon reaching the Curr Burn in the valley the choice we faced was to turn right and face another very major climb to get back onto The Pennine Way ..or having been already soaked to the skin with every piece of clothing wet through( nothing is really waterproof ) turn left and follow the trail down the valley to Primsidehill and a short road section back to the start ..
The "left" option won !

In terms of distance ..not a huge ride but the conditions & contours made it a tough outing ..and rarely have I been colder at the end of a ride ..
Many thanks to Alan & Richy who both had to travel a fair distance just to get there ..and sorry it didn't work out exactly as planned ...
@The EMF ..if there was one enforced ride to miss ( even though you were gutted to do so )...this was it
Although what on a sunny day has quite magnificent views ..these pics will have to do for yesterday ..

Did that route a few times last year, hopefully we'll get over there again this year.A window of opportunity opened up late this morning and after having to bin Saturdays ride with the boys I grabbed it with both hands.
Headed up to my favourite ride destination, The Cheviots. Started and finished at Alwinton, did a loop of my favourite trails and back down Clennel St which was fast and flowing.
A few pics where you’ll be able to see the trails and singletrack plus the granite flagged path up towards Russell’s Cairn, a good couple of miles climb and quite techy.
Covered 23 miles, climbed 3,375 feet, and got back to the car well into the last bar of lecky.
AND it was the first non jacket ride of the year.
The Rose and Thistle was a welcomed sight at the finish.

Ask Hodge/EMF to sort something for the Summer. Take an extra battery as he's brilliant at taking wrong turns, er, sorry, 'extending the route'! There are a couple of riders that come up from North Wales on occasion and one comes down from Glasgow. It's a great day out, even when the weather's not great as the craik is great...I really hope I get to ride them trails one day with a guide on a equally good bike of course. looks fantastic.
That's a bit harsh on @The EMF ..but I'm always there to keep him right ....oh hang on a sec ..Ask Hodge/EMF to sort something for the Summer. I’ll agree @The Hodge has a condition that affects his understanding of right and left….::right! no left …and as @Tonybro rightly says we have a great laughThat's a bit harsh on @The EMF ..but I'm always there to keep him right ....oh hang on a sec ..
Any time you ( or anyone else) fancies it Mikey we are always happy to oblige .
Cheers for the testimonial Tony ..
You were obviously a bit of a handful in those days.Mine is the one on the thumb, a Norco Sight 1 (pre emtb days).
A handy place to rest your bike!Local points of interest
First one is what's left of a manor house built in the 13th century
Second is whats left of a windmill from the 18th century
3rd is some modern day crappy sculpture that will be lucky to last 50 years
