What would you change with the geometry of the SL?

Basically the new 2021 Stumpjumper. 65ish head angle. 77ish seat tube. 1200ish wheelbase in 450-465 reach in medium or S3. Or this Orbea geo.

I currently own an SL. Wish my SL just was longer and a bit more reach. It feels really short but the large with the slack seat tube the TT is too long for me. Wishing this especially after riding an Stumpy EVO which I used to own and currently an S3 Enduro with 464 reach. I’m 5’ 7”.

As alluded to up there - to reflect the new SJ would be a good start, the Kenevo is the big bike so crossover seems silly between the two - one can hope that with the disassociation between geometry and travel, they might just make the new Stumpy Evo with the SL motor. Then you can still run it more ‘trail’ or flip things around.

Luckily, SL owners tend not to be fashion victims - we're riding out bikes, not wearing them. And when a bike rides as well as the SL, "out of date" is nothing but a meaningless meme.

So feel free to worry about making sure you only ride "on trend" bikes. Meanwhile, SL riders will continue to have a blast anyway...


Not a case of riding ‘on trend’ bikes, it’s more to do with riding something that actually fits me & suits the type of stuff I like to ride. It’s geometry is very similar to bikes I rode & raced 5/6 years ago.

As I said, concept of it is great, now let’s hope they apply it to a more progressive frame package.

I get you own one, but like it or not, it's very reserved geometry regardless of my own opinion or feelings. That's not exactly a revolutionary statement - in 5 minutes of Google time, pretty much every single review highlights this point (and a few others surrounding questionable component choices).

I'm sure if a new Levo (full fat or SL) model was launched tomorrow, it wouldn't resemble what you are riding now. That's fine, things move on, technology evolves & bikes change.

For those in the USA, the ship date is tied to the model - LTD in January 2021, Team in February 2021, M10 in June 2021

Just ordered my m10 from a dealer who pre-ordered from the release date. The time for arrival is Spring. They are guessing March, but who knows. If you were ordering today online then YES, it's going to be some time to get the bike, probably late summer. Ugh! Bottom line, dealer is going to be my guess as the best bet to get this bike before the online orders kick in! Seems like the bigger dealers made some big orders early before the online option came into play.

I am keeping my fingers crossed it arrives sooner not later. If you look at the industry as a whole, it's simply crazy as hell. Bike shops are telling me if you order some brands today, then it may be mid to late summer to get your bike. Are you kidding me! There is risk if they overproduce and factories are to the max. I can see the industry hitting a glut in some categories. When you see the idiots riding with their phones playing music out loud on the trail, then you realize the market is catering to a new crowd. Morons who litter the trails while playing their Hip Hop full volume. Great.

It's crazy right now, Devinci just released the new Troy and it hasn't even hit the showroom floors yet and its completely sold out for 2021. If your local shop didn't order any they won't be getting any. It's just crazy.

I think it depends on which model you're buying, the lower end models are probably second quarter of 2021.
I opted for the M10 in blue. Other models were available too. Looks like the dealer in Norway preordered a bunch early ✌. Shipping from factory in november.

I am leaning towards this as well and skipping the Levo SL. M10 would be the best but alas it’s poor availabilty. However, the M20 availability is better and we are now checking with the LBS when could I get one with parts upgrade that would make it almost M10 - the only difference would seem to be SLX instead of XT.

The frame/motor is the same, so to get an M20 with upgrades (i.e. a special order) faster than M10 you would have to know what M10 parts are on backorder?

I’ve just put a dep on the blue M10 in the UK estimated delivery date for an XL, Jan 21. If I’d used MyO to customise then it would’ve been Aug 21 ! Was very tempted by the M20 as an upgrader (Dec 20 delivery) but the M10 spec is hard to beat within the Rise range.

Will update tyres of course, plus 200mm rotors then that’s about all it needs, save for personal choice of blingy pedals & handlebar. Peeved that they don’t include the excellent Shimano display, shouldn’t have to shell out extra on a Garmin, totally nuts. Hoping for around 18.5kg or tad more on the trail ready XL.
Set up should be plenty burly enough for blasts in Surrey Hills/Swinley plus occasional longer forays within Exmoor/Quants. There’s apparently already tech available to tune the Ep8 for those who want it but with usual provisos for battery life. Not sure for the RS version
As a side issue, just wondered what would happen to the 15.5 limit in the event of a no deal Brexit. Wish UK could just switch to US 20mph as that would change everything out on the trail and prevent 90% of tuning for emtbers. Winds me up when commuters going 25mph on derestricted e-scooters go past me on Waterloo Bridge phone in hand ☹️?

I’m 189cm (6ft 2.5’’). I checked the geometry and the XL all works for my rangey limbs, particularly the excellent reach which at 505 is great for me (well 495 with the Fox 150mm). ?

Thanks for the reply. I ordered the L. as I'm 6ft1" with longer torso, shorter arms, and shorter legs at 32.5" inseam. Hope I made the right choice. The biggest factor sometimes comes down to the dropper post as the XL would make a 150mm post slammed all the way down and then the standover becomes an issue. Fingers crossed.

My inseam is nearer 34’’ so I think I’ll be good...just. All the reviews say the bike turns in really well, plus it’s so light therefore was happy to err on the XL.

Just to close out on the sizing, here’s what was said in a review of the Occam on which the Rise is based:

Orbea recommended a size Large Occam M10 for our 184 cm tall tester. On paper, the generous 474 mm reach and stretched chainstays of the Large Occam should be a good fit but the bike felt shorter than its geometry figures might suggest, likely due to its nimble handling. This is something to keep in mind and we can’t help but think we might have been better off upsizing to a size XL.

I just ordered a blue Team from my LBS. They say December or January delivery. First bike I've ever purchased without demoing first! I've ridden the Levo, Levo SL, and a Scott ebike. Never thought I'd buy an ebike before I was 80 years old, but I changed my mind pretty quickly on these bikes. Chose the Rise over the SL because of components, power, better climbing, slightly better geometry, quieter going uphill, and yes, I admit the looks are pretty awesome for an ebike. All of these positives should outweigh the rattle going down. I've always had a lot of chain slap on my old Ibis anyway. Also, the positives are worth the price because I make my bikes last 10 years, so I know it'll deliver more than $950/year of FUN! Before riding, it will get 200mm rotors, Assegai front and DHR rear tires.

one day we will be able to "calibrate" our own bikes, so we can use whatever batter pack we want and make adjustments based on how you want to ride.
