I've heard rumors of Specialized dropping a new bike next year with this new Brose gearbox motor. 2024 is going to get interesting.

Looks like they let some automated design optimisation software loose on it, shame it didn't think to include a means to tension the first chain run...

Sorry, Brose needs to make their units serviceable before I would ever consider getting a combined unit.

I'm sure they're serviceable, just not easily user serviceable?
Not many motors that are, and not many gearboxes that are. So if you compare this to a Bosch or Shimano motor, and a Pinion or Internal hub gear, what's the difference?
If a derailleur equipped ebike has a motor issue you are probably taking it in anyway.
Sure, if a derailleur equipped bike has an issue with the gears you can work on it yourself, but what percentage of the time is that problem the result of it being exposed and "user serviceable"? I'd say it's in the very high 90's, like 99.9%.
So personally, I'd happily give the Brose MGU a try. As long as the weight is half way decent.

Probably a good spot for a belt instead of a chain while we're at it
