What am I missing here, the clamour for a DJI motor in everything, but isn’t that motor a bit of an unknown for now regards reliability?

We really are at the point I think that if the Gen 4 Levo isn’t for you, then don’t buy it.

I’m sure Specialized will be just fine.

As of right now from what I have seen, the new trek rail is looking really good. Stock is 160/160mm travel with options to up fork to 180mm and you may be able to up shock it for 173mm….. in a choice between a 160/150mm travel bike and a 180/173mm bike, the choice is pretty easy. I really hope specialized doesn’t drop the ball and offers options for something other than a trail bike.

If we look at auto technology a car with a belt drive in the motor requires periodic replacement.
This is what we have wit the current Levo. A belt that requires periodic replacement. I hindsight i am surprised that a service schedule was not released with stores inspecting & replacing belts on a periodic basis based on hours, distance or a service light on the mastermind when belt tension drops away.

The new Brose motor appears to run on gears so the replacement belt issue will be gone or vastly extended.

I am not sure why Specialized are keeping the whole thing under wraps so tightly & for so long. I started hearing about & making posts that the new specialized was going to be 48volt with an ~814 battery a year ago . If it end up being this motor & battery this will be a year long worst kept secret in the industry for me at least.

If I am completely wrong my jaw will hit the floor as one of the best kept secrets in the industry.

No doubt we will know sometime soon.

Also after riding the Amflow it is an awesome trail bike but it is suited to lighter duty than a Levo. I am surprised the Amflow only comes with a 5 year warranty vs Specialized's lifetime warranty on frames.

comparing the Amflow to what is now a 4 year old Levo is a laugh. Technology has moved a lot in 4 years.

The Trek looks heavy to me. 52+ lbs for a top of the line build with carbon rims. Compare that to 47 for a Santa Crus Vala. Granted the battery is 600 vs 800 but it's still lighter even with a range extender.

Light, cheap or strong, pick any two. Trek added the option of a 180mm fork, you need a strong frame to hang a 29er on a 180mm fork. Try that with the amflow and you may end up picking your teeth out of the dirt. I for one hope the Levo give us the option of more than trail travel.

47? That’s listed at 47.3 for the top build $12,800, which really means with pedals it will be more closer to 49lbs.

I'm tired of reading about the DJI motor. Motor isn't everything. In my eyes, the current Levo is better than the Amflow. Also, there are no other bikes with the DJI motor, nor is there much information about the new Levo, but people continue comparing the next-gen Levo with the Amflow or other bikes that have not yet been released.

500 Miles on the Amflow now, I agree the current S Works Levo is a better bike on the down hill bits and its more agile. The DJI Motor though is from another place TQ and power wise, very smooth power across the range.

No Doubt that the Amflow is a lovely looking bike and at that price it will most defiantly chew at the sales of the Levo.
But I still believe that the Levo is the better bike as a complete ecosystem including dealer network.

Even with the motor failures (and I have had 5 across 3 levos) , I have never been without riding for longer than a few hours, the support network is just that good. And that in my opinion pushes Specialized far beyond anything else on the market.

Almost Every large city in South Africa has a specialized dealer..... Cape Town for example has 4 within a 70km radius. making it painless to get a motor sorted. (Which I did during a 3 day stage race , my motor was sounding crunchy after the first day .... sorted with a new motor in 2 hours and back in the race the next day)

As much as I would love to ride a Amflow. I need dealer support more than I need 110nm.

Agree with all of this, I had 5 S Works Levos from 18 great bikes and Spz service has been 2nd to none, even when out of warranty. Looking forwards to the new Gen 4 S works Levo v-soon.
