I heard stories people waiting several months for new Shimano motor, no thank you... Specialized will replace the motor from few hours to up to a several days or maybe up to a week in worst cases .... Would pick Spesh again even though the motors fiasco, I think no other motor gives you so natural riding feeling...
I think this was a Covid thing ? I know today the replacment time is pretty short for Shimano.
For the Levo motors,Specialized and Brose realized pretty quick that if they won't offer something special with the service,no one will buy their bikes.I know peaple with 7 motors in 18 months...

My mate’s Heckler is currently in the shop waiting for a motor again, it’s been 3 weeks so far. The UK importer (Madison) has told him a month so we’ll see. The last time they said a month it ended up being almost 3!

The launch of Levo Gen 4 is expected for this autumn and it will be just for S-Woks and Pro models. This could be the reason why the cheaper models are already marked as MY25

There is some info out there on the new stumpy, looks like spesh are going to waste everyone's time with proprietary suspension again, not like that failed the last 3 times they tried... Overall the stumpy looks nice, but a bit worried they have too many engineers and brand managers trying to look busy making their bikes unique in some way, rather than making a great reliable bike. Still have hope for the gen4 levo, expecting to sell my current bike at the end of the year, hope they announce before then!

New stumpys now out. As predicted looks like the Levo SL 2 and has a new genie shock. Interesting they ditched rear mec cable routing also.

The new levo will have to be special ... cause Ive just lost interest in specialised after seeing the new DJI Bike....
And they promise future updates where spech makes you purchase a new bike. Sounds like a winning formula to me.

It has a non-removable battery tho and it looks really good on paper but hasn't been tested so its hard to say if its really as good as it sounds. The orbea wild can also be brought down to 20 kg with similar specs and bosch is a proven and reliable system that on paper is weaker than some competitors but in the real world is considered to be the most powerful motor.

Also it looks like the frame isn't compatible with shocks like the X2.

Some people do, myself included.

I like when i go on my normal bike i just get it out shed, no charging anything, just hop on and off I go. There is no harm in leaving the routing there and sticking a bung in it.

That's the usual concern - and it's unwarranted. Many thousands of miles on AXS Eagle an have never had a single battery issue. A spare battery is 24 grams also. Over the past many years, I have had a half dozen times where a cable/housing failure ruined a ride. I definitely encourage you to give AXS a try! Don't waste your $$$ on transmission IMO - too many incompatible parts to be swapped out.

Im not anti AXS at all, I have it on my ebike which has had 2 batteries go and the mec spring fail. Im stating that some of us like the old fashioned no charging anything life.

Have you seen the prices on transmission parts? The cheapest cassette I have seen is $250, I run an all steel nx cassette for $89. The chains are also double the price of nx chains. On top of that the scam of replaceable derailleur parts, the parts cost more than standard derailleurs. I guess if my daddy was buying me replacement parts, the transmission system would make sense but sadly it am sponsored by me. It’s not that I can’t afford it, but every time I was forced spend $250-$450 for a cassette I would feel like a mark.

So I take your answer is no. I have over 2k miles on my transmission, no parts replaced, perfect shifts, turbo 99% of the time, and zero adjustments or changes needed. No need to think of shifting at any point on any ride. Crashed, beaten, and ridden hard daily, well worth the cost.

The thing is: not everyone wants to ride and shift in turbo all the time. The 100% turbo faction think like motorists and think everybody wants to ride a motorcycle and do as many laps as possible after work. I'm not interested in that stuff.

Transmission is great for people who want to ride in turbo all the time and have no idea how proper shifting technique works. Seen plenty of them ripping of chain after chain. I never ripped a chain on an ebike. Its not hard if you internatlized how to shift from riding without a motor. And riding alpine trails where I want to take my time and need to ride the biggest cog anyway I don't need to shift in turbo. Yes the thing is good but too expensive for the benefit it provides. I'm all for better suspension as it really makes a difference for me but the traditional shifting just works for me.

Same with the gearbox stuff that some think it makes everything else obsolete. I'd say they're too heavy which just got shown by the amflow bike. We're talking about 6 to 7 kg difference which is a huge difference in how the bike will handle.

You're probably thinking about the big heavy Nicolai bike. With the same build as a normal lighter bike, I think there's about a 1-1.5 kg difference. Maybe add a couple hundred grams to beef up the frame to take the heavier motor/gearbox unit, plus some added battery cells to make up for any efficiency deficit. In total maybe 2.5 kg.

I think we’ll eventually see 90-95% of bikes go wireless, especially with SRAMs new S-1000 transmission. It’s basically replacing the NX stuff that normally comes on the lower end bikes so even those will be wireless.

Yes, but the current prices aren't attractive enough to justify to throw out a perfectly working cable based group. I only got it because I got a big discount and don't bother to upgrade my other bikes.

You're probably thinking about the big heavy Nicolai bike. With the same build as a normal lighter bike, I think there's about a 1-1.5 kg difference. Maybe add a couple hundred grams to beef up the frame to take the heavier motor/gearbox unit, plus some added battery cells to make up for any efficiency deficit. In total maybe 2.5 kg.

It's hard to say but that's still a lot. You won't notice 100 or 200 grams too much but 1-2,5 kg is definitely noticeable in many situations on the trail.

Yes, but the current prices aren't attractive enough to justify to throw out a perfectly working cable based group
Everything new is overpriced until sales volume increase

A lot of opinions, not too many facts.

The rotwild RX1000 is a more trail focused MGU bike, quoting from Ebike-mtb "Tipping the scales at 24.7 kg in size L, it’s slightly heavier than the average 23.9 kg weight of our full-power test field" that is with a 960Wh battery.

I am a turbo all the time guy and have no interest in AXS. There are many factors why you might want one: ease of setup, cool factor, better shifting, etc. And many reasons why you might want to avoid one: upfront cost, cost to replace due to damage depending on where and how you ride, weight, etc.

Mgu is too heavy for me as I've ridden many bikes in the range 20-25 kg and can definitely say that 25 kg feels too heavy for my type of riding and the advantages of the gearbox won't weight up that weight penalty. Because the non-gearbox type stuff works flawlessly for years now. So better shifting if it already shifts good enough is not a reason that I could tolerate the weight. Ease of setup? Not hard and you only need to do it once. Cool factor? Who cares about that on a remote trail?

I thought it was about ebikes since todays drivetrain was developed for analog bikes and then implemented on ebikes and now new technology is developed to adapt to todays ebikes?
Like everything else, prices will drop as production increases
