The 9.9 rail isn’t cheap either is it....

But people compare different spec / models etc.

Flagship for flagship isn’t miles more when you look at the £11k Santa Cruz etc etc

yes the s works is that but more. Not double the price like everyone making it out to be.

I don't think specialized are the only company guilty of these inflated prices, as illustrated in the Trek price.
I bought my Trek 9.8 exactly a year ago.
It is essentially the same bike as the one pictured bar the electronic seat post and gears.
I paid £4990 brand new!
It has made my decision easy, I'm keeping my bike for another year, whereas I was going to buy a new Rail this year.

This may have been mentioned previously but there was a considerable price hike on most of the Specialized ebike line earlier this year. I purchased a 2021 Levo Expert for $8900 US in January. I looked on the spesh website 2 weeks later and the same exact bike was $10,500. Oh, and chances were you couldn't get your hands on one. So to say the the prices on the new gen 3 Levo's weren't raised that much isn't accurate. Would I love to have one of the new breed? Absoutely, but the cash outlay and wait times bring me in and out of reality o_O

Damn, that's a fantastic price! I feel positively fisted now...
Don't stress, it's swings and roundabouts.
Because to get Rail I sold an immaculate 2019 Specialized levo expert for £3500!
I've seen them going recently for £6500!

Ouch!

I got £400 off the RRP but I also got a £huge contribution from Trek because my Powerfly frame was fubar. If I could have got a 9.8XT for that price I would have.

I think I was lucky when I got the Rail, as they hadn't really established themselves yet and they making them attractively priced to lure potential Levo customers.

Yeah, same, it had been in stock since release I think (I bought in late December) so the shop were happy to knock a bit off even though I wasn't paying for most of it anyway.

My Merida e160 9000 cost me 80% more than my 2019 E160 900. Essentially I paid AUD10K for a battery upgrade and a marginal motor improvement. If I thought about it logically it'd make you weep.

But I get at least that in enjoyment out of my bikes. Trails are free (although I support my locals very generously). Charges are cheap. 10K is a lot of money but worth it for the joy I get from my steed. I think of it as an investment in me. Cheaper than a therapist and just as beneficial... :)

It's people like Rob I feel sorry for ..

People demand innovation and new products, upgrades, options ..

He makes positive, interesting & informative video's with the help of "Spike" his pet cactus.

Then you read all the negative comments .. "Why would I buy that" "Thats too expensive" "It will break because I'm a moron" "Your video is about the same thing as someone elses who made a video about the same product"..

Must suck the life out of you.

Poor Spike.

I think we should start a go fund me for spike

I agree completely, poor Spike must be pulling his needles out with despair. A holiday is what Spike needs, somewhere in the sun with martinis served whilst he enjoys life by the pool and the sea for a bit.

Maybe its worth us go-funding @Rob Rides EMTB a Spike carrier for his test bikes, so Spike gets to enjoy the fresh country air whilst Rob is out filming.

Afford doesn’t come into it for me. Spending £13k on a bike would be pointless for me and my limited skills as I don’t need to have the most expensive ebike. I wonder how many people that buy the new 2022 model can actually ride it to its full potential.

How many of us can ride any of our bikes to their full potential ? So, arguably many of us have spent more than we should have on our bikes if only looked at from "Do you get 100% of it's abilities from it" ?

Some might end up hung on walls ... lucky b4stards :)

No idea what price has to do with skill level.

DO AXS droppers and drivetrain require greater skills?
Carbon vs Alu frame -- the same I
etc etc ..

I cant ride any e-MTB to its full potential. Doesn't stop me wanting the nicest around though ..

Irrelevant. As long as the bike allows me to ride at MY full potential then I'm fine. I don't need AXS but I can appreciate it and I can feel the difference over a cheaper group set. It does nothing to my riding. I still want it on my bike. And if there weren't people prepared to spend the big bucks there's be no trickle down. All the people about to buy AXS GX should write me a thank you letter.

It's a public service, I tell ya......

p.s. I've worked really hard. I like nice things.

I can afford the new 22 carbon Levo but I don't want to because of I saw too many bad things were reported about this brand on this forum.
You wouldn't buy any bike if you based it on the bad things you read on this forum ! There isn't a single brand or motor where people have not had problems. It's a Forum, people like to discuss their problems as they look for solutions.

There's more Spesh people than all the others put together - check the forum thread numbers as a guide.

Got 1 wife .. problems .. Got 10 wives - 10 times as many problems ! ;)
