I'm wondering if by any chance the rear axle became slightly loose..a similar thing has happened to me before and that was the cause ..although it came up as an error code on the Purion ..?

Now then Mystic Meg, if only you’d told me that before my ride earlier today! Yes the rear axle was loose, surprised I didn’t die earlier, especially as I was practicing drops and jumps! Now it’s tightened though, there’s still an issue. I now have the cranks making a clicking noise after spinning the pedals, the same noise as when you back crank, but this time the cranks are going forwards. Definitely something not right and it’s beyond my pay grade & ability to resolve! LBS tomorrow (although I’m meant to be back at work all refreshed and eager to start the year 😆 )

Can’t you bring your mother ? She’d love it 😊
I wish I could I am gutted I wont be there, I have just had 2 weeks off and been on the bike once, due to been unwell and then having a problem with the rear wheel. Only got it back today and I am back at work tomorrow. It looks like if the weather is ok I will take my son up there Sunday and have a trek around, I need to try my new endura trousers, waterproof socks and freeze point gloves out haha

We were at Hamsterley Friday & Saturday. The trails on the left hand side of the forest (Descend side) were all soaking wet & filthy, but the other side (K Line etc) were all dry and running great

Lots of snow dumped down on Tuesday evening ..a couple of local roads were closed ..
My experience from a couple of years back was that should there still be a lot of snow lying around then it would be best to ( once again ) cancel as the forest roads were unrideable..never mind the trails ..
I will get an updated report on conditions on Friday & report back ..

More snow expected on Thursday too and then raining all day Saturday but around 3 deg C brrr

So, as you’re recovering from Covid & EMF’s Great Whyte is in for repairs, probably makes sense to postpone once again!

Damn. I do enjoy Hamsterley too

Me too ..and I'm desperate for a decent ride ( phnarr phnarr) ..but that would seem to be the sensible option ..see you in the summer at this rate ..
Speaking of which I've a cracker of a Lakeland ride out of Hawkshead to throw into the mix ..one to look forward to ..

Naaaa..not really Zimm..
If it was virgin snow it wouldn't be a problem ..but with a lot of link up riding on forest roads if they have had vehicle tracks on them then unless you gave studded tyres ( I havent ) there will be little to no traction ..
As mentioned earlier a couple of years back we had to give up before we got started ..it was lethal !
It's also over 100mile round trip ..( probably more for TG ) which would be a complete pain if we couldn't ride ..
I will probably go riding locally in the forest on tracks which most probably haven't seen a bike in weeks ..

It wasn't a dig ! You're all old enough and ugly enough to have at least a minor degree of common sense and experience .. (+EMF prefers water in it's none frozen state). It was more a suggestion you could still meet up and talk crap and do something else :)

I have a mate that goes every year and he rates it. I’ve seen a video and it looks more xc based than enduro. Might enter this year , I’ll look into it too
