It is a little mate.
it's not acceptable to have so many cracked frames and still don't know what's going on.
They have said they will sort the problem out once they have a solution! But how long that will take I’m unsure! I would not have my frame repaired and repaint it’s a very expensive bike and only 4 months old!Warranty of one year:
Paint finish and decals.

has anyone tried a warranty claim for giant cracks in the paint ? at the very least all these frames should be re painted under warranty and checked for cracks once paint is removed.
Hey everybody, I'm still waiting to hear from the shop on this but have read some of these comments and agree with Alot of you.
A couple of things to consider are that cars drive around bumpy roads for years with filler under the paint without cracking......
My Frame crack has a step in it and paint crack cannot create a step like this.
I have a full engineering department in my workshop with qualified fitter turner, welders and they have all agreed the crack is a crack. I feel they are better qualified than myself to make this call as I'm an electrical engineer.
Everyone who has sighted this has started thier sentence with the words... "well that's fucked".
Whether it's a major filler defect or broken completely the fact remains its a major asset and if there is a major cosmetic issue with any purchase then it'll go back to the shop to get replaced whether it's toaster or a car it's just not good enough and will not hold up under consumer law.
As such I feel we may need to worry about it being resolved as legally they have obligations, however as previously stated some people are going to be without a bike for an unknown time frame and that sucks.
And yes I have had 5 giant bikes, a trek a commencal, 4 norcos and until recently would suggest people to get giants as I have always seen them as very reliable.....and affordable until now......
Ps I love my new norco it's a beast and feels very close to the reign but it's almost double the cost so if the giant wasn't failing then it's hands down the best bang for buck!
Unfortunately I can't do anything on the premise that something may happen. What about you wife's bike? She had a crack even before her first ride right? And it wasn't a reign but a trance?
Why lost faith? So far it only seems to be a cosmetic issue. No-ones has actually snapped or been proven to be structural. It's far from ideal but no reason to not ride it. It's really odd some bikes don't get it at all as wellUbfotu
Unfortunately I can't do anything on the premise that something may happen.
At this stage it's just a faint mark.
Funnily enough I've found nothing about trance and this issue anywhere.
If anything does happen I'll get her a Norco.
I planned to take her battery with me for some multi day rides whe and she wasn't coming along. It would be preferable to have the same kit for various reasons.
Unfortunately she also has lost faith in the bike before even riding it so it's a shitty situation generally.
She has lost faith as I currently have a bike in the shop awaiting answers and she does not want this to happen to her bike that looks near identical. Why lost faith? Not brand loyalty. Just not hyping and freaking out like everyone. Agree either way it's not acceptable but it will get sorted. From the feedback some have had its not structural so just ride and enjoy it. It's under warranty and will get sorted. Seems very dramatic to go out and buy another bike when your one can still be used it will get sorted and then no issue. As for consumer law, as long as they meet the warrenty criteria there is no issue there either. She has lost faith as I currently have a bike in the shop awaiting answers and she does not want this to happen to her bike that looks near identical.
So far this year we spent 35k on ebikes and don't fancy buying another one if hers does the same thing.
These bikes are very new to the market.
You seem to be missing some basic fundamental points in your steadfast brand loyalty.
These bikes are failing.. Full stop.
Whether you want to call it cosmetic or whether it's structural it's not acceptable and severely hinders resale and impacts its resale value regardless of its severity.
Would you buy this new in the shop with the knowledge this was likely to happen .? Of course not!
Also the prospect of this happening to your own bike just outside the warranty period or you personally being told it's just cosmetic and not to worry.... I'm certain you would be unhappy also.
Under consumer law the product has failed for whatever reason, who really cares the how's and why's.. It's all about the what now.
Loads of manufacturers will use filler like that. Plus a frame is designed to have some flex. If it was completely stiff, it would ride horribly. Every manufacturer has issues. My commencal last less than 6 months. Completely snapped. Broke a Santa Cruz as well. It can happen. Commencal are famous for snapping. In morzine they have more commencal snap by a huge margin than any other bike. People still but themI’m picking my bike up from the bike shop tomorrow! I’m going to ride it and ride it and ride it hard and fast!
If the crack starts to get any bigger and change at all I will be taking it back!
They have assured me that Giant have said it’s safe to ride!
I have lost faith in Giant and I will not be buying another on!
They assured me that they will be sorting this problem out!
The only way really that they will sort this problem out is they will have to make new frames. Which is going to take forever!
I will be going down the root of a complete new bike once they have sorted this problem out. (Made new bikes)
As I will not want a new frame with all the all motor and wires in. They will not work for me as putting old parts on a frame that has been remade will not work and I can see more problems arising in the future!
If they do not do this I will be asking for my money back.
I’m my eyes that is the only two way I can see this going!! Yes it will cost Giant but they shouldn’t have used filler over a bike frame!
Anyway who uses filler over a bike frame!! And why is the frame flexing that much to crack filler!

Other bikes are cracking too, but nobody are talking about it because they're cracking here and there over a long period of time. It's also most of the time a definitive frame replacement with a proper crack or snapped frame, manufacturer is replacing the frame and customer is happy.
2022 Reign E+ case is different where you start to have too many frames all over the world breaking at the same place at the same time. The issue is also generating a lot of confusion & making riders insecure : Is it cosmetic ? Is it a crack ? Will Giant replace my frame ? How long will it take ?
If I were in the market to buy an ebike right now, I would make sure to stay away from Giant unfortunately and I will not recommend that bike anymore until Giant can sort it out.
I really hope that Giant are aware on how serious this situation is and are already working hard to fix it.
But that's just it. You keep saying breaking and cracking. Nothing has broken or cracked. It seems to be only a cosmetic issue which they will sort under warranty everyone just seems to be taking it to the extreme. To add they said if it shows, let them know and they will warranty it asap as paint cracks and cosmetic defects due to factory issues are covered under warranty.

Yes, because that's the same thing. Thank you not descending into wild hysteria...oh wait...I know, right? Same thing with the Boeing 737 MAX. I mean, like, the plane passed all tests and inspections, and there were hundreds of successful flights. There were only two crashes, and the 338 dead people were Ethiopian and Indonesian. Why all the big fuss? Just keep flying, smiling, selling planes, and making a lot of money for the company. If there's a problem, it will eventually get sorted.

Are you able to clarify the depreciation scale of a bike with a huge crack in the bottom tube for everyone?I'm also in "calm the f&%$ down" camp. There was 0 official statement till now or even 0 scan of some email from a shop or a distributor. I know it sucks. Patients is the last thing people have in situation like this. But more hard facts are needed.
When it comes to "resale" value. Bicycles are by far the fastest depreciating in value objects I know of. You exit the car shop, bam 10% less (at least). You exit the bike shop with a new bike, bam 20% to the bin. Bike after 1 season? Bam 30% to even 50% if it was actually ridden. That is why I am economically smart and eco friendly at the same time, and ride my bikes till they're dead. I prefer to focus on upgrades/replacements and improving skills than buying new stuff every season.
If this thing will end up to be just a bad cosmetic "feature" of this bike I will gladly start to buy back these bikes for funny money . If it a real issue then Giant might have some problems. It's a gigantic company so they will handle this, but it wouldn't be a nice situation.
And that's just it, it's not wide spread. A few people on a forum. Any other ebike forum it's not mentioned. They have sold thousands upon thousands of these. It sucks to be one of the few that it happened to, but that doesn't make it widespread. We are talking at most 1%. Maybe not even that. I still think it's a specific batch. Maybe the filler itself had a bad batch. Also, this doesn't stop you going the park. It's none structural and it will get fixed. Noone is loosing out on anything other than a cosmetic issue which is covered by warranty. Are you able to clarify the depreciation scale of a bike with a huge crack in the bottom tube for everyone?
For example
Out of the shop..... 75 percent
After riding it..... strip for parts as nobody will take the frame.....
Something like this I imagine.
Look I'm not over reacting and have said many times I am certain giant will fix it for many reasons.
However we shouldn't be wondering here.
My crack has been around since the bike was only weeks old and we should all agree giant would well know about this. As such they should have contacted all owners by now with a bulletin as it seems very widespread and as you said it's a gigantic company.
Any other vehicle / asset manufacturer would have by now through thier network of registered agents /resellers.
I appear to have over reacted and purchased a new bike as from what I can't tell thus far there are no replacement frames in Australasia meaning possibly months without a replacement and no guarantee it will not happen again, next time potentially out of warranty. That's when the resale issue will apply.
As I'm on my 4th bike in the last year in search of my ultimate rig this seems important as like yourself and emporium I live at the park. It's my social scene and place of fun and hard to enjoy without a bike.
There's nothing official to convince me it cosmetic I'm afraid. And that's just it, it's not wide spread. A few people on a forum. Any other ebike forum it's not mentioned. Ring your local giant dealer!! Took me 5 minutes and get am answer straight awayThere's nothing official to convince me it cosmetic I'm afraid.
As I can feel and see my own frame in real life I will prioritize my own safety of forum gossip. And just imagine the replacement frame does this just outside warranty..... Cosmetic or not it's unsellable.
It's easy to tell everyone to live with it when your not affected as of yet.
I can only imagine how you would feel about swapping bikes right now?? Even with all the hope, fox and dt Swiss bling I've added.... I dare say you wouldn't like that?....
Given the average age of ebike riders how many don't contribute to forums.... The great majority would be my geuss.
I would love to see the place your gather your data.. 1 percent is pretty specific.........
