Unfortunately it will be specd with the desaster 600 Wh battery.. So it is out of the Game

I'm not used to so much drama, hyperbole & fainting from a German. So well done there!

I almost certainly will buy the E-Druid to replace my Relay. I don't have mountains, just very rocky hills and gorges and a couple of bike trips per year. Also, I'm a strong pedaling dude that still rides my Smuggler a lot. As such, I don't need tons of battery watts as currently I do more than fine with 430 watts on my Relay.

The e-Druid is likely to be positioned similar to the Druid, an All-Mountain very rowdy trail bike. Perfect for my needs. The E-Dreadnaught on the other hand will likely be the self-shuttle DH rig and will be more deserving of the 800W battery.

Also, it's been said that Forbidden is specing their own 600w battery for the E-Druid and as such it likley will perform differently. Maybe it's related to fitting their frame design? I do think offering clients an option of a larger battery, particularly on the larger sizes, would seem to make more sense. But maybe that's not in the cards.

The issue with larger batteries is that the extra size ends up being right over the front end, so it has an outsized impact on the bike's handling. Personally, I'm a proponent of a bit smaller battery for day-to-day riding, then a huge Range extender for mountain trips. What people seem to forget when they complain about losing the water bottle holder to the RE, is that on a RE day, you are going to have to carry a pack either way.

You can see the difference in derating of 600Wh vs. 800 Wh in the graph. Also the 600 charges slower and will not not deliver the full power. I do not believe such a small company like forbidden will do an own battery.. But let‘s see..

I still find it hard to believe DJI will support 3rd party batteries. Is this actually confirmed as happening or just rumor ?

It just makes little sense for them to not sell it as a system and force as such like Bosch.

Let's be honest there really is no benefit and all downsides for DJI to allow it. Any issues with the battery makes them look bad regardless.

You have no idea what commercial arrangements Forbidden have with DJI and their battery partners. It might not be possible, but it’s easy to imagine an arrangement where it is.

Which battery partners of DJI? Thought those are their own ones..

The early details of the DJI did seem to suggest that it could be supplied to other bike brand as a complete eco system.

DJI Release the Avinox drive system not just the motor and are heavily promoting it as a system.

The battery and BMS is a key part of any E system. DJIs benefit today is power, fast charging and overall power delivery over the others and that' not all motor. It's as much as a result of the battery and its BMS all taken from djis years of experience making batteries for their drones.

DJI released Avinox with two battery options as well. That's all engineering cost and every single part of their advertising, manuals and even the user guide talks about this as a system with all th DJI components.

IV said it before DJI does not do working with others well and I just don't see it makes any sense for them to sell just a motor and display and then have the downsides of someone else's battery, BMS and charging.

It's a system and DJI will want you fully in their system.

Any idea who manufacture's the frames for Amflow?
Seriously considering one, coming from the RM Altitude PP, looking for something lighter and was facing the reality it would mean less power/range, but the Amflow could be the best of both...?

DJI doesn’t make batteries anyway does it?

The ‘engineering’ and build of the battery was likely done by one of their battery partners to a DJI requirement.

If Avinox is going to be adopted by bike manufacturers, particularly smaller lower volume ones, then they’ll likely need to be able to access more than one battery design in 2 capacities.

This is new territory for DJI, they can’t vertically integrate as much as they have with the Amflow (or any of their drone products) as they’re working with other companies as a supplier.

Whatever, they’ve done a great job with the Amflow and I wait with interest who else starts putting the Avinox in their bikes.
