Never did get a feed of the DH race other than Danny's run and some Ed Bull mayhem shooting but looked like a fair race! Did catch the XCO on vecha3 YT channel that runs without any commentary which is fine with me. Plus not watching it live you can amp up to x2. I saw that the woman who won the eXC race was on a Levo somewhere too.

Definitely a race of two halves. The lower woods section was the key & Danny gave a near masterclass. Pleased for Loris though, he's been so close forever & the raw emotion showed us what it meant for him to top the box at last & he really is an artist on a bike.

Loudenvielle on line one.

Rain forecast & so my instincts say Amuary, he loves a wet one. For the women, my head says Vali, my heart says Pom Pom. She was up on Vali for three splits at Andorra, ultimately losing out in the woods but it feels to me that she's not only back up to race pace but also on a home race edge.

Also saw a couple of track walk videos last night pointing out how soft crucial parts of the track seem to be, most notably, the final jump which looks like it's bad enough to cause problems for riders.

Fair to say it's going to suit the bog trotters.

The UCI cancelled semi finals & restricted the men's race to 30 riders. The eye opener from that is BK fin 34th. He hasn't said what happened as far as I can see but some chat on Vital that Pivot went with full wets on a drying track & it cost them dearly.

In his vlog he said he had an issue and played it safe in his run. Bike problem I guess ? Keeping it professional and not saying what exactly.
Sucks though !

Juniors is carnage. They're going down like skittles. Luke Wayman went fastest going over the line on his face!

Loved it. Can't beat a mudder for thrills. Delighted for Reece in light of the problem's he's faced in the past few years but also for Benoit. I feel because he's one of the quieter guys on the circuit, he doesn't get the spotlight his talent deserves but you can't argue with that performance. And I was right about Myriam!

Some chat on Vital about that. Ordinarily, I regard that site as a hotbed of angry, mud spattered young men, raging against just about anything & everything but on that, I think they have a point. Sticking Tahnee on screen during Finn's run had nothing whatsoever to do with the racing & was prurient to the point of obsession. WBD fail again.

I was disappointed the weather came in.
I would have loved to see the elite men race on the same track as the junior men had.

Perfect grip but massive ruts and holes , we would have seen some spectacular riding!
Great to see Benny get the win though!

Three certainties in life - Death, taxes & Rampage judges shafting Brendan Fairclough
It is a shame that #brendoggotrobbed again.......He, Olly and Deaks put out the very essence of what I feel Rampage started out to be about. The vlogs leading up showing the hardwork and comraderie it takes to prep the run to the final full pull that would make others crap their knickers and done with flair and style to boot. Good job lads and #1 in my book for sure. I'll not be paying much attention to the event from now on although that is no great loss to the brand I admit, but the shite is swill anyway and haven't drank any in years.

Anticlimactic and climactic end to Rampage this year. Killer final run to win the show, but loads of riders pulling out due to wind and conditions.
Glad no one died though. Although some came close.

Audible booing when Bren's score was given. Seems the crowd see it as a freeride event even if the judges think it's Cranworx Utah. Looking forward to the multiple podcasts featuring Rampage judges on the defensive.
Yeah it certainly seems the judges are more focused on the Slopestyle elements rather than the technical Freeride these days.
