to say their products are not finished is a bit rude no?

the current m560 and m510 work very well, but it is up to you how you build and setup everything. so user experience may vary.

like some users do not check factory bolt torque and do not put loctite but they do complain about loosing bolts...๐Ÿ™ƒ

especially in FW department and fine settings like PAS level adjustment there is room from improvement from the factory. i set everything myself and im very happy with these engines. but again it requieres some input from your side

like all stuff it requires some knowledge and skill to be happy with the end results and that is not for everybody...

DIY building is for people who like to tinker with their own stuff and not be reliable of others.
nobody talks about 'profitability' because we are not looking for profit.

I think most people here just like to spec their own bikes and have fun.

Myself i like to build bikes with specs you cannot get for the money otherwise. like my recent kunlun superenduro build.
yes it was 5K and it weighs 25kg, but if you compare specs you cannot get similar build specs in any of the big brand bikes

if you think you can please show me and i will buy it!
-carbon frame and wheels
-quality components rated for usage of the bike (e- enduro)

most factory build bikes have trail tires and basic trail suspension to keep price and weight down. but who wants that??!

even if you build an ultra light bike like cef50 with decent suspension and decent wheels/tires it will still weigh 22/23kg... because of components choices!

but an enduro with flimsy suspension and trail tires suck, yet this is what the whole industry is doing atm.

i have been using these motors for the last 4,5 years and never had any big problems.
the problems i did have were
- broken display because of an crash
- 1 broken bearing in my oldest m600 motor due to moisture ingress( which was easy to diy replace)

as i ride all year mostly in muddy wet conditions i think its fair to say it has turned out to be reliable enough for me.

biggest selling point of the bafang system is that you can service and repair it yourself which with many brands you cannot and you end up bring it to a lbs hoping they can help you within a few weeks... only be be charged an arm and leg for an software update or small part after 9 weeks of waiting ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
I see that you are not reading my posts again, but defending those who charged you for a semi-finished product.

and I wrote it wrong, it's not about profit, it's about the finished bike being cheaper than the bafang DIY.

i bought 2 m510 fc1.0 one rev1. second rev2! one of the first on the forum, I could not upgrade the firmware because rev1 and rev2 are not compatible.
the m510 itself has power, I'm writing about fc1.0, but there was no control, at the slightest pressure of the pedal it moved 100%.
I wrote to Bafang and the seller and never got a reply.
I also had an m820, the specs say it has rocky mode, I never got an answer how to activate rocky mode! in Boost mode there is an interruption in pedaling power, not a reduction but an interruption, and I never got an answer for that either.
No one can tell me that these engines are not a semi-finished product!
that means I paid for 3 engines that don't work as they should, they solve some problems with time. but what about those engines on which.a can't solve the problems?
Bosch is more expensive, but at least I have service support. most engines can be repaired, you just need to know how to buy parts!

That bike is 5000 euros, it's a good joke.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I am writing about the first version of the m510 engine! and he had a lot of problems. fc1.0 had v.1 v.2 we are not sure which fw is for which version. read on the forum about m510 motors. and as far as I know all electronic components and all products must be tested for the European market! from European institutes. and meet the regulations. all bikes you buy in the store have a declaration of conformity with European standards or the standards of a certain country.

is it so hard to admit that diy ebike is not profitable financially? I admit that in the segment up to 250w we call it "legal" is not profitable. if someone wants m600 m560 or a stronger engine then there is not much choice.
You are wrong on several sbjects.

1) EU certification is only an certification provided by the manufacturing company, that their product respect EU rules. Proved by selfmade internal testing procedure or by external certification company. Not an certifcat provided by an EU desk after test. I know that because i had taked time to verified at what coresponding the EU certification. Try to find where are done your EU certification ๐Ÿ˜‚

2) The alone difference with M510 rev1 and rev2 is the controller. You just need to replace it (+- 100 euro) to have an rev2. I know that, because i had do it. Wich major brand allow customer to replace controller in their motor ? which major brand build their motors since 2017 with the same fixing points ?

that engine was over 4.5 years old if you read but my post.

but that seems to be your problem.

instead of bashing something learn to develop your skillset so you wont have to rely on any warranty and cry on internet when resellers start ignoring you.

also my bikes have no problems compared to yours, thats why im
not crying and whining like a litle kid on the forums

Another some wrong affirmations

They don't work as you want. But other (me) are satified by their motor.

For the M510 i have said upper the answer. For you, no way to paid 100 euro to upgrade motor. For me that's integrated in china purchase, the develloping is done by customer and paid more to finalize using is an possibility, raison why i wait several months and return to purchase an new product.

For the M820, i had answer from bafang, the rocky mode is the boost mode and they have power cut if it become too hot, if you use it for long time (depend of you weight/legs torque/weather). I set my use to 90% for Speed+ mode, i never use boost mode and i'm fully satisfied by my M820

well done, very smart! you pay for the product, then within the warranty you also pay for the spare parts that should be paid for by the manufacturer, you are wasting your time and money! for the profit of Bafang, to whom you already paid all that! and Bafang has an annual profit in millions of euros.

hahaha you are very smart!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I started t enjoy this thread in the beginning but I can't believe you waste so much time and finger work to justify your cases.
Everyone just be happy with what there're doing and don't turn it in to a slanging match

I just admitted that I made a mistake with the DIY project and that it was too expensive for me.
the fact that some cannot admit it and have already spent a lot of euros is their problem.
and according to the reactions, they don't want to admit it.
and Bafang protect as if it were their company.

I'm sorry once again that I started writing that in this post.

nice greetings to everyone.

@ficorama just accept you made a wrong choice by going the DIY route because you lack the skillset required and leave us alone that actually enjoy the process.

You seem to be the only one with these strange problems.
Almost like its you and your whining problems :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Nice bike๐Ÿ”ฅ Do you have bike-ahead-composites wheels or China carbon? How does the bike ride on these wheels? I want these too :)

Definitely, first M510s had huge problems. Mine is FC1.0 and it was a nightmare until I replaced warranty torque sensor. Now it works nice with 43V firmware (best for FC1 in my opinion). Powerful and smooth assist allows to do techy uphills with ease even in low cadence. My old M500 requires high cadence and it's a big difference. Didn't ride on FC2.0 though.
Overall, Bafang support leaves a lot to be desired.

The Wheels are from Ali-Express.
The inner wide is 31mm, very good for tires up to 2,6.
For carbon wheels they have a smooth run and the weight is also good.
Price with shipping was โ‚ฌ 740.

If your frame is of the same quality as mine you will find defects. I'd inspect this frame with a fine tooth comb before using it. On mine inside the frame where the battery goes I found multiple air bubbles under the lamination of the carbon, if I press against them they make a pop noise. Shine a light up your seatpost from the motor end and have a look at what your bonding on the pivot joint looks like, if it's like mine it's gonna look very rough.

Also the bearings that's used on all of the suspension pivot joints are absolute garbage, I had one lock up after only 100ish km, it was terriblely pressed into the yolk from factory.

Dengfu also drench all the bolts in far too much blue thread lock to the point it will damage threads.

The rear axel you have from them is also made from chinisum, you will bend it like many of us have already.

Another thing is I see bolts on your pivot/yolk that are labeled as 8Nm, they are Infact 12Nm. Dengfu Lazer engraved the wrong specs on the bolts as confirmed by them on their Facebook owners group

i think you are right! dengfu quality went down over time. Replace all those bearings with Enduro branded ones. they have some special designed ones for yokes ect. i ordered a cheap bearing puller kit from aliexpress and pressed them all out from the beginning.

maybe get a replacement frame? did you get it with some kind of warranty ?

Do you really think a company that has send out incorrectly labeled parts and only held their hands up to the problem when pressured for torque specs, will actually warranty replace parts? No no, I was offered a extra year warranty on my defective frame. I've a feeling that their warranty has no backing tbh
